Family Fun at County Fair in Ferndale! Happy Anniversary!

Hi and welcome!
The weekend is winding down.... or perhaps it's already Monday for you! Bummer...
It was definitely a busy weekend! We had a great time with our family at the fair. Fun times! We did all the typical fair "stuff" including winning gold fish, eating corn dogs, admiring the exhibits, riding the merry-go-round, and visiting the barns and seeing the animals! Oh, and watching my dh and ds slide down the giant slide with Jakob and Riley Ann! I think I took over 70 pictures, many scrapbook worthy!! Whoo-hoo! We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary so our evening ended with being treated to a very nice dinner by our daughters and my mom, (missing: ds had to get home to his dw) that was a nice surprise to end the day! I just wanted to share a few pics (not too many, I promise!)
She did not want to get off... we rode it twice. That would be Riley!

I hate my camera! Half of Poppa and Jake.

Sean and Riley Ann following Poppa and Jake. That's Gee-Gee (great grandma in the gray hoody)

Did I mention drive backhoes?

Ah... I'll take a corndog please, hold the mustard! Here is Princess Addy!

Princess Riley on the way home still full of smiles and giggles. Did I mention "fun times?"
I love my family!! Thank you Kerry for 33 years!! It's been a fast 33 hasn't it?

Simple Pleasures; Sketch Tuesday Layout

Hi and welcome to Delightful Details, I'm so glad you came by!!

Here it is Thursday already, wasn't I just counting down on Monday!! Wow, two more days and I'll be married for 33 years! whew... that's a long time, huh? That's a real long time... I've got a good man, so I'm not complaining at all. I'm a very blessed woman, that is for sure!! Not only do we love each other but we like each other, too! (lol) All of us (kids/grandkids & my mom) are going to the fair on Saturday, which is how I like to spend my time - with my family!

CPC-ST1 (sorry about the shadows)

This is my layout for CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS Sketch Tuesday, of course I took some liberties and this is the end result! This is my darling granddaughter Riley Ann. She just finished eating dinner (we all went to HomeTown) and the kids got balloons. Unfortunately all you see is the string because the picture I took of her balloon did not turn out well, at all! But it amazes me how the simpliest of things please these little ones! She was such a good little girl at dinner, I don't know why her parents stress out about it!

Here are two close-ups of the details/embellishments

Ingredients:
Buttons (Foof-a-La); Pattern paper: MME Kaleidoscope Collecton "Confetti"; Bazzill cardstock; Pink Paislee: Alpha Stickers; American Craft: ribbon, flowers, brads; Tools: EK Success Corner rounder punch, Ek Success Scallop photo corners, Marvy Uchida small blossom punch; Sharpie black fine tip, Zots glue dots AND last but not least my granddaughter Riley Ann!
Hope you are inspired by the layout and sketch, I appreciate you looking and hope you'll leave a comment! If you play along with our Sketch Tuesday be sure and include CPC-ST19 in any galleries/blogs you may upload to. Thanks and God bless!

Wait on the Lord Wednesday and How About a Thought Closet Makeover?

Hi and thanks for visiting!! I'm so glad you stopped by.
Today is Wait on the Lord Wednesday over at Christian Paper Crafts so be sure and check out what Chelsea is doing, she has a beautiful card this week to give away and you can find the details: Here Don't wait, go check it out!!

Our Ladies Morning Bible Study just completed the series "Me, Myself and Lies" a study by Jennifer Rothschild. We have been learning that our thoughts can be so destructive and we aren't even aware of it. (for example: have you every called yourself dumb or stupid.... see what I mean?) Did you realize your words can either build up and promote life or tear down and disturb your spiritual growth? We speak words to ourselves all the time! What are your words saying to you, today? This study was excellent to help us recognize what we were speaking to our souls. Jennifer shares practical ways of applying Scripture to overcome destructive patterns. We truly enjoyed our "thought-closet makeover!" Be sure and check out her blog HERE .

Count down to our anniversary: 3 days!

Color Monday Challenge...whoo-hoo only 4 more days!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a superb day!

If you read my post on Saturday I thought I'd ask how you are doing on the tongue twister (pictorial tutorial)? I'm sure you'll be relieved to know that I'm getting my tongue to untwist and I'm getting quite proficient (ha!).

Anyway... it's MONDAY, whoo-hoo only four more days 'til FRIDAY. Everyone likes to celebrate on Friday being Friday so I thought I just jump ahead and start the count down....
Now that I think of it I should count down for SATURDAY because it's my wedding anniversary!! Yes friends I've been married for (are you sitting down?) it will be our ... whew! 33rd anniversary of wedded bliss! So... in 5 days I'll be celebrating with my dear hubby Kerry and I think we are going to the fair with some of our kids. Oh and the plan is to get new tires on my car on Saturday.... we are so romantic! ;-)

Over at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS (have you checked out the site yet? www.cpcmag.com) Mondays are Color Challenge day! Janette Olen (check out her fabulous blog /http://www.stampinwithstyle.blogspot.com/has chosen the following colors for this weeks challenge: mellow moss, always artichoke, perfect plum aren't those great names for colors!!

Here's my card for the challenge and although I don't have those exact colors I used the following Distress Inks for the background color on the white cardstock (concord grape, shabby shutters, frayed burlap: all Ranger Products) I've used 4 different cardstocks, "plum" (which I blended the concord grape Distress Ink on the edges) dark green (my artichoke!), dk brown-green which I'll call moss although it's not very mellow!! But it works great with these colors to mat the very busy pattern paper I made. The button and flower is from Making Memories and the plum ribbon is from my stash. The lovely stamp is from UNITY STAMP CO. and was designed by our very own Patter Cross (DT coordinator at CPC) and I used Stazon jet black ink to apply it.

Have a beautiful day and remember Jesus loves you!!

Pictorial Tutorial or One Can Never Laugh Too Often!

Welcome to my blog, Delightful Details!!
Hope you are having a great day. I'm laughing at myself right now because I'm attempting to do a pictorial tutorial (try and say that three times fast! seriously!!!) No! I'm serious you've got to try that 3x really really fast, here I'll type it out and you read it really fast!!! Pictorial tutorial pictorial tutorial pictorial tutorial ... wasn't very easy was it...hmmm? Now do it without looking! Okay, just had to break the ice here and make my nieces laugh cause I know they are reading this.... love ya girls!! I know you think I'm a dork... Actually you could just find Tim Holtz's video on YouTube and watch him do this, he's much more professional and talented. But, I may be more entertaining.... the verdict is still out!!

Gather your supplies: All the must haves are shown here except for a paper towel for blotting; the Ink blending tool/foam, heat gun and your embellishing stamp. AND my siggy at the end I somehow deleted....

3 - Distress Ink Dye Stamp Pads (Ranger Industries) I used Shabby Shutters, Antique Linen and Broken China
1 - Inkessentials Non Stick Craft sheet (Ranger Industries)

1 - Inkessentials Mini Misters, (Ranger Industries) filled with water, I'm stating the obvious!
1 - Inkessentials Ink blending tool and foam (Ranger Industries)
1 - Manila tag (Paper Accents)
1- Heat tool
Stamps

#1 Rub the Distress Ink stamp pads directly on the Non-Stick Craft Sheet without overlapping the inks. You can barely see the Antique linen but it is there!

#2 Liberally spritz with water from the Mini Mister.

#3 These next photos show the progression of pressing the tag onto the inked craft sheet. Re-mist if necessary.

#4 You have the option to dry the tag after each application of ink or do it at the end. I usually do it at the end of applying the ink, however you can get different looks depending on the ink and the drying... so have fun and experiment!

#5 Here is the darkest ink used and I'm going to apply a "swirly" stamp around the edges of the tag. Stamp is from a set (Inkadinkadoo)

# 6 (this is optional) I spray the mini mister water into my hand and flick the water (very technical) onto the tag and let it set for a moment.

#7 Gently blot with the paper towel.

If you click on the pic to enlarge you'll be able to see the water spots better. #8 Next blend the Antique Linen around the edges. I do this just to darken the edges a little bit. Blending the ink can be tricky using the blending tool, it takes practice so I truly do recommend watching Tim Holtz do his "thing." It's not hard but it does take a little bit of practice. Here's his address http://www.timholtz.com/ the home menu has a Demo list the one you want is "distress inks" it's about 7 minutes long and worth watching.

"One can never have to many hugs or laugh too often"

Here is the final result after adding a sentiment and some ribbon/fiber stuff to tie off the top of the tag. (the stamp is from Stampendous! and the ink is jet black Stazon which is getting a little on the dry side, sorry about that!)
Well that's about it, I'd love to hear from you so please leave a comment and if you have any technical questions ask Tim Holtz... just kidding, if you have a question don't hesitate to let me know and I'll do my best to help.
Hugs & Blessings to you!!
Natalie
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance... Proverbs 15:13a
PS I made my hubby say "pictorial tutorial" as fast as he could and his response was " I feel like a dork" so I told him he was in good company!! Blessings!!

We are having FUN ON FRIDAY

Yes, it's Friday, early evening and I'm getting ready for the weekend and you are so sweet to be here reading this!! God bless you!!

Today at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS http://www.cpcmag.com/ we celebrated Friday by having FUN!! Our challenge to us from our own Cindy Coutts (be sure to check out her blog at http://cindycoutts.com/) is to make a card that is CLEAN and SIMPLE.
Now what you are about to see does not look clean and simple, HOWEVER... trust me on this, it is!! The lines are easy no fancy cutting, and there are no embellishments to speak of. The base is white cardstock (Bazzill), the pattern paper is my own creation, it all started with white cardstock too! The small squares were cut with my cuddlebug die (postage shape) but they didn't have to so maybe I did indulge here a little! You'll have to click to enlarge the picture to see the details. I plan to show a step by step of how I created this paper within the next couple of days so be sure and check back! Hope you'll join in the fun and head over to CPC and upload your CLEAN and SIMPLE creation to share with all of us! Don't forget to label it as FOF18 and if you upload in any other gallery please make sure it's labeled CPC-FOF18.

CPC-FOF18 (Thank You card)

Well, gotta run y'all have a wonderful warm summer evening with family and friends and hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again for stopping by!!

Hooray it's Friday!! "Distressed" layout

Thanks for taking a peek at my blog!! I hope you find some inspiration and encouragment here!
Hasn't this week flown by, I can't believe it's already Friday. Everywhere I read I'm reminded that school is just around the corner. Well, I don't have to be concerned with getting kids ready for school anymore but when I think of school starting then I realize Christmas is just around the corner!! Yikes!!! I don't even want to think about that!! Summer is just starting here!! I can finally have my cup of coffee on the back porch and not have to put on a jacket for crying out loud!! Enough whining for now....
I've been wanting to do a scrapbook page for quite awhile and over at Christian Paper Crafts http://www.cpcmag.com/ there was a challenge on Saturday to use the following Scripture from Joshua 10:25 "And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight." (thanks to Mary Collins for choosing a great verse to use this week!!)
Now even though this is a challenge there is no deadline to get this done, so I encourage you to join in the fun and share your creation. Just remember when you "upload" your picture in any gallery be sure to label it as CPC SS003. (Shae: did you catch that???)
I've been wanting to try more distressed paper in my layouts and I'm getting braver!! Here is my layout - distressed paper and a flower!! I'm really getting out of my comfort zone, but I'm stretching myself to try new things all the time. You'll have to click on the pic to get a close-up of the distressing. I used the Heidi Swapp Distresser.

This is my husband Kerry praying for Jakob during the dedication. Kerry is not only Poppa but Pastor!

Close-up of the paper flower and Scripture, I've printed it out on a transparency and the font I used is "The Blue Cabin"

Here are the ingredients to my layout:
Paper: DCWV (Nana's Nursery); Bazzill Cardstock; Bo Bunny buttons (Abbey Rd. line); misc eyelets from my stash; Pink Paislee Alpha Stickers (love 'em!); Tools: Crop-a-dile Big Bite!; Heidi Swapp Distresser; transparency from Staples.
Have a great weekend and be strong and of good courage for the battle is the LORD's!

Welcome New DT Member Heather Brown!! Whoo-hoo!

I just want to thank you for visiting today!!
It's a beautiful sunny day here on the northcoast of California, not to hot (rarely is it too hot!) we are about 6 miles from the ocean so we get a little bit nicer weather than the rest of the north end of the county, but it's never too hot, it might get a little stuffy in the evenings because no one around here has air conditioners (I kid you not!) but just bring out the fan, open the doors and call it good! It's been those kind of evenings here this week. Finally (!) summer has arrived!

Well, I'm so excited to introduce our newest DT member to Christian Paper Craft Magazine! She is so talented, very funny (sometimes pretty zany) and loves the Lord! Her name is HEATHER BROWN and you will love her creations at In My Thoughts... www.inmythoughts.net Perhaps you've seen her beautiful work over at Unity Stamp Co. Blog and their Hip Hop Thursdays or her wonderfully crazy videos on My Little Shoebox. Won't you join me in welcoming her and be sure and leave a comment on her blog and let her know you're as excited as the rest of us that she's joined CPC!! Whoo-hoo and welcome Heather!!

Bible Verse Thursday (BVT18)

Welcome! If this is your first visit I would just like to thank you for stopping by and I hope you'll introduce yourself and leave a comment!

Today is Bible Verse Thursday at Christian Paper Crafts ( http://www.cpcmag.com/) and the challenge is to use a monochromatic color scheme and the Scripture verse is from Ecclesiastes 3:11 " He has made everything beautiful in it's time."

Here is my card!

The ingredients you'll find at the end of the post!

Isn't this stamp adorable, I've added a pearl as an embellishment. You'll need to click to enlarge to see it better.

(Below)This photo corner is originally a piece of light yellow Bazzill cardstock that was in my "scrap" pile. I blended it with Distress Ink (worn lipstick) I wanted it to stand out just to contrast a little bit but stay within the monochromatic tones.

Here is the list of ingredients:

Bazzill cardstock (light blush for the base, light yellow for the photo corners)

Stamps: Unity, Inkadinkadoo

Ink: Black Stazon for stamps; Ranger's Distress ink: Worn lipstick, Antique linen for all the blending.

Creative Charms: pearls

Tools: Marvy Uchida - round scallop punch, EK Success scallop photo corner punch; Ranger's blending tool

Thanks again for visiting Delightful Details have a wonderful day and I hope you'll be back to visit again. God bless!

Wait on the Lord Wednesday

So glad you are visiting!! I've got some great news to share.

Something brand new at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS. Design Team member Chelsea Cook (http://hapemome.blogspot.com/) is sponsoring a wonderful card giveaway ministry! Here is what she says about the ministry of "WAIT ON THE LORD WEDNESDAY"

"I know there are a lot of people out there that could use a cheering up, encouraging words, words of wisdom and to know that Jesus loves them. That no matter what they go through, they are loved and have something much greater to look forward to. Do you know someone who is down and blue? Maybe has just lost a loved one? Lost a job? Has been diagnosed with a disease? Is ill? Has given up hope? Feels like they don't have a place they belong? Is concerned about the paths someone dear to them has chosen? This is our chance to let that person know that we care and that the Lord cares.

One of my favorite verses is Psalm 27:14 - Wait for the Lord be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Hence the name for this ministry. He is always there, always hearing your cries, and your praises. He knows the desires of your heart.

Each Wednesday I will post a new card (or maybe cards) that I will be giving away. I would love to hear your stories - who would you give this card to and why? This could be an opportunity for us to pray for that person as well. I believe in the power of prayer and I know many others do as well. You will have until the following Tuesday night at 11:59 pm Pacific time to post your comment to this thread explaining who you would like to give this card to and why. From those comments, I will choose a story that has touched me. Then, on Wednesday I will announce the "winner" along with the reveal of the new card (or cards). Then, I will be in contact with the winner and they can choose to have me type something inside the card and I can mail directly to the person they desire. Postage on me."

So please check out the Wait on the Lord Wednesday at CPC and see the beautiful card Chelsea has designed for this weeks giveaway. Also visit Chelsea's blog for even another opportunity to win a beautiful handmade card for someone who is in need of a gentle reminder that Jesus loves them.

Sketch Tuesday! Distressed Tag

I'm back!
I think I'm on a roll!! I'm excited to share on time (at least before midnight on the west coast!) our Sketch Tuesday for Christian Paper Craft Magazine (http://www.cpcmag.com/) Hope you'll be inspired to create/play along!! Here is the sketch:

(ST18)

Here is my sample:

I've been learning some distress/blending techniques from a couple of classes I took at Scrapper's Edge, our local scrapbook store. Today, I chose to use a 2.5 x 5.25 tag to create my sample.
Here are the ingredients:
1 tag (Paper Accents, cream)
Distress Inks from Ranger: Peeled paint, Antique linen, Aged mahogany.
Pearls: Creative charms
Stamp: Inkadinkadoo
Punch: Marvy Uchida (blossom); EK Success (photo corners, scallop) which I modified to fit.
Cardstock: light yellow Bazzill

Thanks for visiting and hope you have been inspired! My hearts desire is that God will use any skills I have for His glory.

Please remember all the missionaries serving the Lord, often times they have given up everything to be on the "frontlines." Please pray for their safety, for courage, boldness and strength in the Lord and please remember their families.
