Color Monday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts!

Hello Delightful friends and family.  I'm getting this posted later than I wanted but Monday is a work day so I'm finally home and can concentrate on getting this challenge posted.  It's COLOR MONDAY at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS and some yummy colors are on the menu!!  Jennipher has done an outstanding job in creating a wonderful palette to challenge us with.  If you love to be inspired by color, I hope you'll play along and head over to the Creative Blog and link up!  We would love to see your project!

(CPC - CM114)

This shot shows how I've curled up the edges of the cut out flower that I've stamped.  I've popped it up with a dimensional, then added the button (BoBunny) and Cording bow (Darice).

Ingredients: DESIGNER PAPER: My Minds Eye, Stella and Rose line; CARD STOCK, Bazzill; STAMPS: Taylored Expressions, Much Appreciated (bonus set for Key Ingredient subscribers); INK: Memento, rich cocoa; Archival, Olive.  This card is pretty straightforward and not a lot of extra embellishing. I  used 2 different pieces of double sided coordinating designer paper.
Step 1: Cut base from darker green (4.25 x 11 and fold over to form base), cut designer paper (script)  an 1/8" smaller adhere to base; Cut light green card stock 4.75" x 3.5"
Step 2: Cut 3 pieces of coordinating designer paper 3"x1.5"  Adhere to the light green card stock.  I did the two ends first then added the middle piece last.  Stamp THANKS to bottom panel.
Step 3 Cut coordinating blue/teal card stock 2" x 3.25;
Step 4: Stamp STEM with Archival (Olive) Ink onto white card stock and cut out 1.75" x 3".  Stamp FLOWER onto pattern paper and cut out. Gently curl up edges of flower and adhere to the stem with dimensional.  Add button, adhere panel to the blue/teal card stock mat.  Finish the inside with sentiment.

That's it!  Hope you like it.  Lots of cutting with the trimmer but a simple design.  If I were to make another one, I'd probably do some stitching around the edges to add a bit of  interest and dry emboss one of the panels and perhaps add a bow or ribbon.
Hmmm.... I think I may have to do another one of these!!

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.  1 Corinthians 1:18

Grace and peace to you this day!!

An Irish Prayer and so much more...

Happy Thursday and a delightful St. Patrick's Day to you all!

Thought for the Day:
There are only three kinds of Irish men who can't understand women— young men, old men, and men of middle age. (Now that's a bit of truth if I ev'r heard one!)

I know it's hard to believe it, two days in a row to share a card!! I have another milestone to share with you all from Christian Paper Crafts, we are having our 100 Color challenge this week and it's a testament to all of our designers as well as our community that we've all supported each other long enough to get here! And since we are celebrating, we're going to give away a little something special to one lucky participant for this challenge. You have until next Sunday night, March 20th, at 6:00 PM EST to upload a card or add your direct link here. There will be a random winner chosen, who will receive something special from us at Christian Paper Crafts ! In two more weeks we will be celebrating the 100th Bible Verse Thursday challenge so be sure to stay tuned to see what Angie will have for us over at the Creative Blog.

This is our inspiration piece from Mary so have fun chosing your colors from this picture and don't forget to head over to the Creative Blog and upload your picture!

Here is my card and 3 challenges! Of course it's the color challenge but I've also included this weeks Bible Verse Thursday#98 (Heaven & Earth verse) and Gloria's sketch #99 (which I missed last week due to other committments!)

CPC CM100; CPC BVT98; CPC ST99

And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends, A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Happy Birthday, Sondra!

Hello Delightful friends and family!

Today was Sondra's birthday (my boss) and so I made her a card. Now it's just a little intimidating giving her a handmade card. She owns the local scrapbook store, went to Ranger U, she's Copic certified, and teaches classes on just about everything paper craft related. I take that back, she does not teach the pergamano class! If you are ever in the Humboldt County area (northern Calif.) you should come and visit the store, it's massive and a wonderful place to get your creative juices flowing!

Here is the sketch I started with from Gloria (her blog). Gloria is our Sketch Tuesday hostess at at Christian Paper Crafts

I was hoping to incorporated our Color Monday Challenge but it just didn't happen on this card. I'll post the inspiration picture from Mary at the end of this post, just in case you'd like to play along. I hope you will visit us at the Creative Blog of Christian Paper Crafts. You will find lots of fun challenges and info about an upcoming blog hop!

CPC ST#95 (sorry I got in a hurry and forgot to crop the picture)

Here's a close-up of the sun, I used liquid pearls to embellish!

On this shot you can see, {well just barely} I added some zig zag stitching on the center "band" and then some "faux" stitching on the skirt. I used Smooch pearlized ink to make the stitches and also to color her shoes a snazzy hot pink! Our sweet little girl has been framed by the Labels Six from Spellbinders Nestabilities, embossed and ink blended around the edges while the die was still in place.

CPC-CM#95

Here is the inspiration image for Color Monday at CPC. I'm sorry it's so small, (same with the sketch) I'll have to ask my "tech" girls why it is so copying small and then remedy it!
Here are the details:
Paper: American Crafts, Dear Lizzy (Enchanted - Curious Matilda); Bazzill card stock; Neenah, bright white cardstock for image.
Stamp: Greeting Farms, Hope and Grace
Ink: Memento, rich cocoa; Distress Ink, antique linen, faded lipstick
Ribbon: Taylored Expressions, kit
Last but not least the rest of the ingredients:

Thanks for taking time to look, I hope you are having a blessed week! Tomorrow the grandbabies will be over and then it will be off to the Morning Women's Bible Study. We are studying with the Beth Moore DVD Series "Beloved Disciple."
God bless!

Showing Some Gratitude

Hello my dear delightful friends and family!

Can you believe it's already the middle of October, NO WAY!! It just can't be, but the calendar doesn't lie! And it's been over a week since I've posted! Good grief, I've been a slacker! How many days until Christmas?? There are so many things I want to make and the time is getting away from me!!

I guess I've been a bit on the busy side with family and church so I've not been too crafty here of late. Well, I have been, just perhaps not taking the time to post due to time management! And now I've got a whopper of a cold which I really don't have time for! Trusting the Lord to heal my throat before Sunday.

I've had an exhausting week but a blessed one too! My dear friend Abby sent me a CARE package full of delightful crafty odds and ends for cardmaking and scrapbooking. And a beautiful tag that I'll be putting in my Bible to keep my place in the Gospel of John which we are studying at Christian Paper Crafts. The verse on the tag is from Psalm 46:10 "Be Still and know that I am God." God certainly has been speaking to my heart and continues to prove Himself faithful, what a blessing it is to serve Him. THANK YOU ABBY!! You just don't realize the encouragement I feel knowing people are praying for me.

Well here is the color and sketch challenges this week at Christian Paper Crafts! I managed to combine the two in one card (is that great time management or what?!)

Fashionably Late!

Hello Delightful friends!

Yes, I'm late in posting a couple of challenges but my new stamp is a fun Apple Doodle Ink line called Fashionably Late from Taylored Expressions. Don't you think this "little" lady is just the cutest?!! Now she is far from being a Diva and don't get mad at me, but she looks a lot like a few elderly church ladies that I've known! (Yikes, no offence to anyone and the ones I'm thinking of have passed on) I definitely have plans to update her look!! Okay... back to the challenges: Christian Paper Crafts
Color Monday (Red, Brown, Yellow, white or black) and our Sketch Tuesday (below)
CPC-CM75 and CPC-ST75

A Convivial Tea Party Anyone?

Hello delightful friends and family,
So, I've pulled out my Thesaurus to find as many synonyms for a word that I promised I wouldn't use in this post! (check the end of the last post, if you are confused!)
So, here goes.... Well, todays card gave so much pleasure in making! What a great challenge for Sketch Tuesday, it was so entertaining! I love this color combo for the Color Monday challenge of pink and gray (thanks to Miss Boo). I hope you are enjoying some creative inspiration and will find amusement in playing along with us at Christian Paper Crafts. Oh my, this verbage is so not me! So, lets just get on with the card details!
Here is the fabulous sketch from Jennipher (so many possibilities):

CPC-CM73 and CPC-ST-73

I kept my card very true to the sketch, but you could easily flip it. You'll have to click to enlarge to see the stitching (I'm getting braver about that and my machine is cooperating nicely!)It helps to thread the machine correctly! (Ha!) Do you like my teapot, isn't it the cutest! I paper pieced it and I love how it worked out, I just stamped it on the patten paper then carefully cut it out! I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 9 to cut out the gray cardstock, then embossed it, then keeping the die in place, inked the edges uses a blending tool by Inkessentials before stamping the label (TE) and placing the teapot. I added pearls (ColorStories) to the top corner as an embellishment to finish it off.
The pattern paper is DCWV Nana's Nursery (girl), the gray is DCWV pastel cardstock, the base of the card is SU! white cardstock. Stamps: Taylored Expressions CreativiTea set (I LOVE THIS SET), Inks: Memento, rich cocoa ink for stamping and Distress Ink, worn lipstick for blending.

Hope your week is convivial!! I told you I got my thesaurus out. Isn't this enjoyable?

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to read your pleasant, witty and delightful comments!

Cream in the Coffee! 2 Cards, 3 Challenges

Hello delightful friends and family! I have a new favorite creamer that I put in my coffee (hot or cold) and it is Italian Sweet Creme from Coffee Mate (Nestle brand)

Oh my goodness, it delicious! Yummy! But you probably didn't come here to read about my recommendation for coffee creamers now did you? (ha!) Actually, I'm here to share a couple of cards but before I do that I want to share that I'm "Cream" in the Play Date Cafe Challenge blog's coffee this past week!! Thanks for the honor ladies! If you check out the right hand side of my blog you'll see the BADGE! This is my second time to be given this honor with many other very talented paper crafters!

Here is this weeks color challenge from Play Date Cafe Challenge #43

And here is my card! LOVE this paper and I think it is perfect for the challenge!PDCC#43

close up of the sentiment.

Here are a few details:
I used white cardstock (Weyerhaeuser) for the base (5.5 x 5.5) Cut a piece of lime green cardstock (DCWV pastels), 5.25 x 5.25 and designer paper (Creative Imaginations - Christine Adolph) which is doublesided, 5x5 and round the corners with EK Success corner rounder. Next I used a Label 1 Nestablilities (Spellbinders & Cuttlebug, Provocraft) and diecut one piece of the same designer paper (remember it's doublesided!) using the largest die. Cut a strip .5 x 2.5 of designer paper. (see photo for placement). The sentiment is a stamp from Taylored Expressions (Care and Comfort set). To prepare the paper for the sentiment I first used the Nestabilites Classic Scallop circle to cut out a white circle. Keeping the metal die in place, I blended ink onto the paper using Distress Inks: Broken China and Peeled Paint, then stamped the sentiment with Palette, black. I used a larger scallop circle die using a dk green cardstock (Bazzill). Assembled the card then added Dew Drops (Robin's Nest) to embellish. It's very subtle which is the look I was going for since this is a sympathy card.

CARD #2 for CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS!!

Obviously this is the sketch for this weeks challenge and the color challenge from Jen (AKA Miss Boo) is to use "SUMMER PRIMARY COLORS: RED, BLUE AND YELLOW
(Thanks Jennipher for a great sketch this week! You promised less layers this week, but still the inspiration and possibilities were endless!) I managed to combine two challenges into one card! Love it when I can do that!! (tee-hee!)

Here is my card!

CPC - CM70 and CPC - ST70

The sentiment is a Scripture stamp from Verve and I LOVE this paper from The Girls' Paperie by Margie (On Holiday collection). The red cardstock (base) is from my Key Ingredients Kit (Taylored Expressions)

A close up of the flower.

I stamped the center with a stamp from "Botanicals" from Gina K Designs, (it is 1 Corinthians 13 love chapter) The flower punch is from EK Success and I punched two using the doublesided paper from Girls Paperie (On Holiday) then I punched two circles (1-red, 1- blue) using dimensionals and Zots I attached the layers.

Here is a little more detail: I used my Dotted Swiss embossing folder to emboss the red strip and the Martha Stewart border punch to embellish with blue cardstock (DCWV), I added a flower shaped button and hemp cord to tie a bow beneath it.

Didn't mean for this post to be so long! If you've lasted this long,

I appreciate you!!

Have a super Friday and a terrific weekend. Not sure if I'll be posting again this weekend but I hope to!! We will see, in the meantime won't you take a minute to read Proverbs 3:5-6
Thanks for leaving a delightful comment, it will be like delicious Italian Sweet Creme to my coffee ;-)
