Cream in the Coffee! 2 Cards, 3 Challenges

Hello delightful friends and family! I have a new favorite creamer that I put in my coffee (hot or cold) and it is Italian Sweet Creme from Coffee Mate (Nestle brand)

Oh my goodness, it delicious! Yummy! But you probably didn't come here to read about my recommendation for coffee creamers now did you? (ha!) Actually, I'm here to share a couple of cards but before I do that I want to share that I'm "Cream" in the Play Date Cafe Challenge blog's coffee this past week!! Thanks for the honor ladies! If you check out the right hand side of my blog you'll see the BADGE! This is my second time to be given this honor with many other very talented paper crafters!

Here is this weeks color challenge from Play Date Cafe Challenge #43

And here is my card! LOVE this paper and I think it is perfect for the challenge!PDCC#43

close up of the sentiment.

Here are a few details:
I used white cardstock (Weyerhaeuser) for the base (5.5 x 5.5) Cut a piece of lime green cardstock (DCWV pastels), 5.25 x 5.25 and designer paper (Creative Imaginations - Christine Adolph) which is doublesided, 5x5 and round the corners with EK Success corner rounder. Next I used a Label 1 Nestablilities (Spellbinders & Cuttlebug, Provocraft) and diecut one piece of the same designer paper (remember it's doublesided!) using the largest die. Cut a strip .5 x 2.5 of designer paper. (see photo for placement). The sentiment is a stamp from Taylored Expressions (Care and Comfort set). To prepare the paper for the sentiment I first used the Nestabilites Classic Scallop circle to cut out a white circle. Keeping the metal die in place, I blended ink onto the paper using Distress Inks: Broken China and Peeled Paint, then stamped the sentiment with Palette, black. I used a larger scallop circle die using a dk green cardstock (Bazzill). Assembled the card then added Dew Drops (Robin's Nest) to embellish. It's very subtle which is the look I was going for since this is a sympathy card.

CARD #2 for CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS!!

Obviously this is the sketch for this weeks challenge and the color challenge from Jen (AKA Miss Boo) is to use "SUMMER PRIMARY COLORS: RED, BLUE AND YELLOW
(Thanks Jennipher for a great sketch this week! You promised less layers this week, but still the inspiration and possibilities were endless!) I managed to combine two challenges into one card! Love it when I can do that!! (tee-hee!)

Here is my card!

CPC - CM70 and CPC - ST70

The sentiment is a Scripture stamp from Verve and I LOVE this paper from The Girls' Paperie by Margie (On Holiday collection). The red cardstock (base) is from my Key Ingredients Kit (Taylored Expressions)

A close up of the flower.

I stamped the center with a stamp from "Botanicals" from Gina K Designs, (it is 1 Corinthians 13 love chapter) The flower punch is from EK Success and I punched two using the doublesided paper from Girls Paperie (On Holiday) then I punched two circles (1-red, 1- blue) using dimensionals and Zots I attached the layers.

Here is a little more detail: I used my Dotted Swiss embossing folder to emboss the red strip and the Martha Stewart border punch to embellish with blue cardstock (DCWV), I added a flower shaped button and hemp cord to tie a bow beneath it.

Didn't mean for this post to be so long! If you've lasted this long,

I appreciate you!!

Have a super Friday and a terrific weekend. Not sure if I'll be posting again this weekend but I hope to!! We will see, in the meantime won't you take a minute to read Proverbs 3:5-6
Thanks for leaving a delightful comment, it will be like delicious Italian Sweet Creme to my coffee ;-)

Who? Hoo, Loves Ya, Baby?

Hello my delightful friends and family! I love ya and I'm lovin' this fun card I made for the Play Date Cafe challenge this week! I was not lovin' it last night though, I was ready to pull out a hand full of hair!! (ack!) I finally had to just give it up for the night, ever have one of those nights??? But today is a brand new day! Yay!! And after a little talk with the Lord and an attitude adjustment on my part, here is my production (completely different from what I had last night, although the owls are the same):

Challenge

(definitely enlarge this to see the details!)

PDCC#42

I had to shoot the pic outside in a tree!

Hope ya love my little owls, aren't they adorable! I cut these from some designer paper I have from Jillybean Soup (Talk Soup collection - Ramble). Background paper is Bazzill cardstock for the card base and Basic Grey's Archaic line that I embossed with my Cuttlebug and the Traffic Jam folder and used another pattern for the matting of the sentiment. I've stamped the Unity Stamp Co. bracket (on BG paper of the same collection), the tree and sentiment are also from the Unity Stamp Co. ( "Owl Always Love You" set). Memento, rich cocoa ink was used to stamp. I popped up the owl and part of the branch for a bit of dimension. Can ya believe it, no buttons or ribbon (oh my!) but I still think there is enough texture and uniqueness to make ya smile :-)

Thanks for looking and leaving a delightful comment, they make me smile inside and out! Have a great week, God bless!

HE is ABLE challenge!

Hello Friends and Family,
Hope you are enjoying your Saturday! Here is a new challenge I'm entering and I want encourage you to check out Traci's blog "He is Able" it will bless you for sure. Her love for the Lord is so evident and she wants to do what she can to spread His love and His Word out to blogland. So please won't you go and visit with her and let her know I have sent you her way!
Here are Traci's instuctions: August 8th is our 40 day Anniversary...so WE Are Celebrating!

This challenge is about a very righteous man. It's Noah. Let me share a couple of things the Bible says about this man: Genesis 6:9-"But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God."And, Genesis 6:22-"Noah did everything just as God commanded him."
Now let's take a look at the number 40 in this part of the Bible: Genesis 7:4-"Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights..."Genesis 7:17-19-"For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered."
How to play: Make a card or bookmark depicting anything mentioned in these quotes about the righteous man, Noah. Or about the quotes pertaining to the number 40.

How to enter: At any time, please leave a comment with a link to your card or bookmark.

Then, mail your card and an extra envelope to:
Traci Starkweather
116 Colyer Drive
Longwood, Florida 32779

How to Win: Traci will enter the name of each person who sends their card into a random drawing. (Enter as many times as you would like!)

What You Will Win! The person's name that is chosen by random drawing, will receive the first half of all of the cards received for this contest! Yippee! The other half, will go into the very large blessed pile of cards for her blog!

Here is my card for the challenge and since we were talking of Noah I used a lot of blue for the water and browns for the ark. The dove with the olive branch suggests peace of course (the stamp says that!) however, after the waters receded Noah sent out the dove and on the second trip out of the ark of safety the dove brought back an olive branch to Noah - the storm had passed. After 40 days and nights of judgment comes a new day! If you are in the midst of a storm know that God has an ark of safety for you and that it is the Lord Jesus Christ. Call upon Him for your salvation and it will be a brand new start, a brand new day for you!!

CPC- FOF65

This card also qualifies for the Fun on Friday#65 challenge to use a Scripture on a card. You can find this challenge at Christian Paper Crafts!!

Have a great day and be blessed of the Lord!! This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Details:Paper: Karen Foster designer paper; Bazzill cardstock; Stamps: VERVE (sentiment) Dove image: Unity Stamp Co. ; Ink: Memento, rich cocoa, Distress ink, Faded Jeans; Ribbon: American Crafts: Stickles, Ranger; Classic scallop circle diecut (Nestabilities - Spellbinders) Cuttlebug, Divine Swirls folder.

Under the Tuscan Sun - PDCC#41

Hello friends and family!

"Regrets are a waste of time. They're the past crippling you in the present."

I thought I should quote something from the movie, if I was going to use the title for my post today! I have a better quote though, not from the movie but from the Bible! "forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (Paul wrote this to the Philippians in chapter 3:13-14).

What brought on this talk of Tuscany, well it happens to be the Play Date Cafe Challenge this week! I love this color challenge and I was so pleased that I had this gorgeous paper from Fancy Pants Designs called Rusted Sun (by Heidi Larsen) I used two different papers from the line: Sunny Day and Indian Summer PERFECT for the challenge, don't ya think?

PDCC#41

Here is a close-up of the details. I used Smooch (Moonlit) to outline the sun, otherwise I thought it would get lost in the busyness of the card!

Here's the play by play, (I think I may be watching too much baseball, I sound like the sports announcer!):

1. Cut card base from cardstock (June Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions) 4.25 x 5.5

2. Diecut from same cardstock color, one rectangle using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled rectangle 1.25 x 1.5 (emboss and distress with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink - stamp sentiment - Unity Stamp Co. using Memento Rich Cocoa ink)

3. Designer Paper (2 pieces) : 1 @ 2.75 x 4.5; 1 - diecut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled rectangle 2.5 x 3 (emboss, add red rhinestone(Kaiser Craft), add dots on the sun using Smooch pearlized accent ink);

4. Cut gold ribbon (from stash)

5. Assemble card and add 3 rhinestones at the bottom right hand of card.

Thanks for visiting and I love it when you leave a comment! Blessings to you today!!
