30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello Delightful Friends and Family,

This is a card I was working on for a class next month (Flower Power) at Scrapper's Edge, all the cards will be focused on flowers (of course!).  I've colored this with Tombow markers and the layering stamp is called Believe from Hampton Arts.  The background colors are Distress Inks and I've used 140lb cold press watercolor paper (Strathmore).  I will be sharing this at the Daily Marker blog for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I've been coloring nearly every day, just don't get things posted like I should!

Thanks so much for visiting and hooray it's less than a week until it's officially Spring!!

No Line Coloring Part 2 - 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hey there Delightful Friends and Family!

Here is the final coloring of this poppy stamp from Penny Black.  I don't think I mentioned in my last post that I originally stamped this with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I'm not going to mess with this anymore.  Next time you see this it will be on a card with a sentiment!  I've added another layer of paint and lightly colored the background blue and gray with a little bit of negative painting in a darker gray.
This is Day 6 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge! Just getting this in under the wire!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Hope you are having a colorful day!

No Line Coloring - 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello Delightful friends and family!
Crazy weather here in northern California!   Lots of hail and even more snow in the lower mountain ranges. So I'm now staying in and working on my no line coloring technique!  This is really hard for me and I really want to learn this skill. I was hoping to share this  technique in a class next month but I don't think I'm ready to do that.  Maybe after lots and lots of practice, which means lots and lots of coloring!  I still need to add another layer of color and figure out the background on this.  Maybe tomorrow I will have that done and ready to post (at least the coloring portion).
This is Day 5 of the 30 day coloring challenge.

Ingredients:
Stamp: Penny Black
Paper: 140lb Strathmore watercolor paper
Watercolor: Simply Art 36 cake paint set
Brushes #2, #3, #6, #0/2

Thanks so much for visiting and have a color happy day!
(the sun is peeking through, I tell ya, it's crazy weather time)

A Bloomin' Birthday - 30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 1

*This is my 2nd post today!

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!

It's time again for another fabulous 30 Day Coloring Challenge with Kathy at the Daily Marker.
I always have good intentions to color everyday and I often do but getting them posted is a whole different story! But here I am to play along for Day 1.  The lavender stamp I've used is a set from Taylored Expressions called Lavender Bouquet and the fun sentiment is also a TE stamp set called Bloomin' Boots.  I've colored with Zig Clean Color Markers on watercolor paper.  The background circle (I think I may squeal) is the new Oxide Distress Inks!!
Here is what I did on the watercolor circle:
I started with laying down the ink on my craft sheet and spritzing with water.  I used Faded Jeans and did about 3 layers worth.  I was noticing some lavender colors showing when I add the droplets of water so I decided to add some Warm Lipstick to the mix as an experiment (because our store sold out too fast for me buy any other colors! (I only have the two mentioned above and Peeled Paint.)

So here is my card:

Thanks so much for visiting and have a colorful day!!

Have Faith in God - Word Art Wednesday and the 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello Delightful Friends and Family,
Hope you are having a fun summer so far! We've sure been enjoying the warm but not too hot weather! Had a great time a couple of Saturdays ago attending our local Christian music festival called Jesus Rocks the Redwoods.  It was held near Richardson's Grove, right in the middle of the beautiful redwood groves on the Eel River, here in northern California.  It was a fun time, our church had a children's ministry booth and it went over well. The little ones enjoyed getting crafty!

Well, it's time for another Word Art Wednesday Challenge!Over 360 entries in our last challenge!  Thanks so much for playing along in our family friendly anything goes challenge.

Here is my card for challenge #242 & 243:

I've stamped with Versamark and embossed with Ranger white embossing powder the flowers and leaves (Dahlias -Penny Black).  But before even getting started I made masks using the Inkadinkadoo Masking Paper for each flower and the leaf.  I've stamped and embossed the two side flowers first, added the masks and then stamped the leaves. The paper I've used is Strathmore 140 lb cold press watercolor paper and then I've colored the images using Distress Inks (Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint and Picked Raspberry), I trimmed the paper to 4" x 5.25" and then mat with black card stock and adhered to an A2 Neenah white card stock base. Our Scripture Art (free art Scripture art for you!!) this week is from Mark 11:22 and I've printed it on Neenah 80lb white paper and diecut it from the Cottage Cutz Oval Cross-stitched die with my faithful old Cuttlebug!

Wonderful inspiring verse this week (as always!) from the Gospel of Mark.  It happens to be the book our Ladies Group from church is studying, we just started the Lisa Harper DVD series called "The Gospel of Mark - The Jesus We're Aching For" (Lifeway).
I appreciate the words of Jesus telling me to "have faith in God" - the faith I have in myself is flawed but God is not flawed, my faith in my faith is flawed but He is perfect in every way.  He is unparalleled in His compassion, mercy, grace and love.  I can trust and rely and believe God. He is faithful.  Even when the answer seems to be no when we have asked and believed for I can be assured that God has something so much better for me.  So have faith in God.

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a blessed week and don't forget to play along at Word Art Wednesday with us!

I really wanted to play in this 30 day challenge more often.
Thank you so much Kathy for all of your inspiration and creativity!

Here is my card:

Ingredients:
Simon Says Stamp!: Gingham Check background stamp
WPlus 9 Stamp: Doodle Buds (purchased at Simon Says)
Coloring Medium: Zig Clean Color Markers
Ink: Archival Jet Black and Chrome Yellow (background)
Die:We R Memory Keepers (not sure the name of the die but it looks like a polaroid picture frame)
Ranger water color paper. Signa Uni-ball white pen
Scripture Art - Word Art Wednesday (FREE to download!!)

I will also be sharing this card at the Daily Marker for the 30 Day Coloring Challange

The Scripture Art today  begins with " When I consider...." so I would just like to share a thought I had on that.  Have you considered the Creator, the works of His hands, how He has placed everything perfectly in our universe for us to live? It can truly be mind boggling if you start thinking about how everything works so perfectly. Also, "When I consider...." how much He loves me! (that's really mind boggling!) And yet, He has a purpose for me that He determined before the very foundation of the world. And He has a purpose for you as well.   It is up to us to begin to seek Him, get to know Him and then He begins revealing what His plan is for our lives.  Once we become a child of God it is easy to see His hand at work around us but can we see His hand at work in our lives?  He wants to be working in and through us so the question I have for all of us reading this is - Have you considered how the Lord is working in you and is it reflecting His Word and His Son, Jesus Christ?  Believe me when I say that these are questions I have asked myself, to examine my motives and actions.  To follow up, here is a verse that I've been "considering" and prayerfully meditating on in Ephesians 2:10 " For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Am I walking and imitating my Savior?  He has prepared a way for us to walk for His glory and our good and it's walking in love for the benefit of ALL. EVERY LIFE we come into contact with is valuable and precious in the eyes of God.  I hope and pray that I'm reflecting the Father's love and I hope that is your desire as well. We live in such perilous times and it's time to step up and walk in a Christ-centered love and make a difference to those around us.

Thanks so much for visiting and have an excellent week!

Have a Heart with Simon Says Stamps and 30 Day Color Challenge

Hello Delightful friends and family!
I've been a coloring fool the last three days! Yay! Love it!  Tonight I finished a Valentine card for my dear hubby.  A week ahead of time, I can't believe it!  I didn't get too fancy with it but it was a lot of fun designing.
Here is my card:

I've watercolored this with an inexpensive watercolor set (Simply Art watercolor cakes) and the paper is Canson 140lb cold press. The hearts were created by using a heart die from the Roses For You set (Simon Says Stamp). I traced them lightly with a pencil then added water to the inside of the heart before dropping in the paint. I used two different colors of deep pink.  After it dried I stamped the coordinating heart stamp and the dots from the same set (Simon Says Stamp) and add the stitched lines which were from the WPlus9 Doodlebuds set.  All were stamped with Archival black ink. On the vellum, I've added the sentiment and heart they are from the same Simon Says Stamp set.  I popped up the inside heart with dimensional adhesive. I added Wink of Stella in clear to the sentiment and black dot but the photo doesn't pick up the glimmer.

Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life - WAW # 219 and 30 Day Color Challenge

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
My card this week was inspired by the Pattern on Pattern Resist Emboss technique using Distress Inks that I learned at the Online Card Class (Watercolor Intermediate). I will be sharing this at Word Art Wednesday this week for the Anything Goes - Family Friendly challenge #219.  I will also be linking this up at the 30 Day Color Challenge Blog with Kathy Racoosin.

Here is my card for this week:

Here are the ingredients for my card:
Background stamp - Darcie's Stamps
Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz Collection) Watercolor (butterflies)
Ranger White and Clear embossing powder
Distress inks: Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover.
I've gotten quite the variation by overlapping the colors of inks.  I've used a circle die (Spellbinders) as my stencil (so I'm stretching the use of my dies!)
The Scripture is our Word Art From WAW and I've printed it on Vellum and die cut the tag twice, once in card stock and then die cut the vellum.  The seam binding was colored with Distress Inks (Mowed Lawn & Twisted Citron).  I've used all greens and I love how these colors blend so nicely. I've used a paint brush and a water brush to work the Distress ink into the water color paper. I used my heat gun to dry it. The base was cut to 5 x 4.25 and the bright green was the perfect green to mat the top layer. The butterflies were embossed with white embossing powder, then with a water brush I add the Distress inks, dried them with a heat gun, then fussy cut them out and used dimensional adhesive to pop them up.
If you would like the Scripture Art be sure and visit us at the Word Art Wednesday Blog HERE and download the art, then link your project for a chance to win a prize!

This weeks verse is foundational for the Christian. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the only way to God the Father, it is a narrow road. Most don't like to hear that, but it is truth and it will give you life.  Abundant life here and everlasting life to come, what a blessing!  Jesus made the way for you and I through His death and resurrection, we must believe in order to receive this free gift of life.

Thanks so much for visiting and don't forget to link up at Word Art Wednesday this week (it's a two week challenge starting today!)

Simon Says Stamps - Ready Set Snow! and #thedailymarker30day3

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
I have a fun card to share with you today.  I received some very happy mail last week from Simon Says Stamps and just loved what they sent!! Such a cute stamp set and matching die called Ready Set Snow!  It was perfect for me and I'm so excited to be able to share a little part of their Holiday Collection called Create Joy.  If you haven't been to their blog, you really shouldn't miss their blog hop that started on Friday.  You will love all the creative inspiration. Plus there will be a lot of prizes given away, too!  Thanks so much to Heidi Crowl (owner of Simon Says Stamp) and her team of designers.
Hope you like what I've done on this card and I have another one "in process" but not ready to share just yet! Maybe in a day or two.  I will be sharing this at the Daily Marker for the October 30 Day Coloring Challenge

I have to laugh, it looks like the these two are ready to step off the card and go play in the snow!

I had to use this paper (Simple Stories) that I have an abundance of from last Christmas, when I say abundance, I really mean that, I should give some of it away.  I will check with my grandkid's teachers to see if they can use it for upcoming Christmas projects. (I don't need to be a hoarder, right?!)  I've colored these two with my Copic Markers on some newer paper (100# Hammermill Photo White card stock) not sure that I like it, the green jacket got really shiny like it wasn't absorbing into the paper so the jury is out on that.  I originally bought the paper for a class I'm teaching and one card is a single layer card and I wanted it to be a bit more substantial than the #80 Neenah bright white and just thought I'd give it a try.  Any suggestions on the heavier paper and Copic coloring, particularly this brand of paper???
I've stamped the sentiment with Versamark and used Ranger Fern Green Embossing Powder, then added small red pearls that coordinate with the buttons on the coat (which was paper pieced). I've used Glossy Accents and Clear Wink of Stella here and there but the photo isn't picking that up.
Well that's it for me, sorry I'm a bit wordy today, what's up with that?? Maybe the popcorn and grandson Jake's Skittles from the movies... sounds like a good excuse to me!  By the way we saw Woodlawn - VERY GOOD and INSPIRATIONAL - a true story!

Thanks for visiting!

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD.  Psalm 31:24

Simple Blessings #thedailymarker30day3

Thanks for visiting and welcome!  Hope you are having a delightful day.  Today is Day 1 at the 30 Day Coloring Challenge Blog and I'm excited to play along!
Here is my card which was colored with Distress Inks (Persimmon, Peeled Paint, Hickory Smoke) on Ranger Water Color Paper.

The sentiment is from an older Unity stamp set and the cute Pumpkins are from Taylored Expressions (Thankful set).  Can you see the embossed border at the top?  It's a Sizzix Alterations border (set of three).

Well that's it for me!  Have a fabulous day!
