True Rest - Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
Hope everyone had a blessed Easter we call it Resurrection Sunday here! So glad to serve our risen Savior!  Had a lovely service at church, then a wonderful dinner at our daughter's house with all our kids and grandkids.

I love the Scripture art in our challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday. (Matthew 11:28) It's more than the pretty style of the font but the meaning of the Scripture.  Who wants rest? (my hand is waving high) Sometimes life seems to get so complicated and distractions become the norm in our busy lives.  It should not be however, especially if we are a child of the Most High God!  We need to take that one important step in obedience to the Lord as He says, "Come unto Me," it truly is that simple.  Come, sit at the feet of Jesus, just like Mary (the sister of Martha and Lazarus). It's the "needful" thing for us to do.  Not only will we find sweet rest for our souls but we can find peace there too!  So if life's cares are getting too burdensome, perhaps your focus is in the wrong direction.  Maybe it's time to take "time out" and sit at the Good Shepherd's feet and receive His rest.

His Word, My Hope - Word Art Wednesday Challenge #222

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
Just a quick post to share this weeks card for Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge # 222. This is a two week challenge!
This last week has been super busy with some extra church services and our friend from Nebraska staying with us for a week. Never a dull moment around the Houston home, that's for sure!

Here's my card this week (I've been playing with watercolors and brush techniques from the Online Card Class I took - however, I covered it up with vellum and this weeks Scripture art!)

Here are the ingredients:
I stamped (Archival Tree Branch ink) the flower using Stampers Anonymous Flower Garden and using a #12 Winsor & Newton Cotman round brush made the leaves/vines and #2 Round brush to paint the flowers.  Watercolors used were Reeves Sap Green, M. Graham & Co. Quinacridone Rose and Quinacridone Gold  mixed for the flowers.
I've embellished with seam binding ribbon and adhered a  Maya Road Mini Sparkle & Shine Resin flower. I've cut the vellum (Paper Accents) and the watercolor paper (Ranger) with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journal die set. The card base is white Neenah 80lb card stock and matted the focal piece with black card stock.  The verse from Psalm 130:5 is a wonderful encouragement and I can think of quite a few friends that I could send this to.

This Scripture art is free and you are welcome to use it!  Don't forget there are prizes to win at Word Art Wednesday this week.  Our sponsors this week are The Kraft Outlet and Imagine That.

I got to thinking about the word "wait" in this verse, noticed it is used twice. Often we think about waiting as doing nothing but wait!  But I think of it also in the context of serving (like a waiter) as well as "waiting" expectantly for an answer or for deliverance.  But as I wait, I want to serve and seek the Lord as I am waiting on Him - we can be actively looking into His Word so that our soul and spirit might be filled with hope.  If we sit and get stagnant we might begin to get discouraged, we might begin to murmur and we might begin to doubt.  Isn't that just like the enemy of our soul, he knows how to push those buttons doesn't he? We begin to look inward instead of upward and pretty soon we are depressed and frustrated.  So let's get our eyes focused on Jesus and begin to look upward knowing that He will help us fulfill His purpose in our lives and give us the strength we need for this journey called life.  He is faithful.  To God be all the glory!

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Word Art Wednesday #221 and Ink Lifting

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
It's time for Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes (Family Friendly) Challenge #221 and I also have a fun and easy technique to share today that I saw Jennifer McGuire share on her blog a few weeks ago.  It's called ink lifting. I've used Distress Inks (Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade & Abandoned Coral)  and an ink blender to create the background - covering completely the 4 x 5.25 piece of  80lb Neenah bright white card stock with the inks. Next I stamped the image (Penny Black stamp - Softly) then I used a water brush and lightly added water to the petals of the stamp then with a clean paper towel, I pressed down to lift the water up, which lifted the ink, too.  You have to take card in not rubbing the area because that will pill the paper and eventually cause the paper to pucker up and the area won't be smooth.  So take your time, let the water do it's job and don't rub the paper.  Hope that makes sense.  Head over to Jennifer's blog and watch the tutorial she has done and it will explain it better, plus you'll see her pretty card, too!

(I have the hardest time taking a straight picture, it's the weirdest thing...)

This picture shows that I've popped up the butterfly and if you look closer you can see I've used Wink of Stella (clear) on the wings for a bit of glimmer. I love the color combination of these Distress Inks!

Hope you will join us at Word Art Wednesday and link up your creation and share.  It's fun to see so many entries and Newton's Nook and All Dressed Up are the sponsors for challenge #221! That should encourage you to play along with us! It's a two week Anything Goes challenge!

Our Scripture art this week is Deuteronomy 31:8.  A beautiful and encouraging verse - a promise from the Lord, that He will go before us, be with us, will not forsake us - our part is to stand strong in Him and not be afraid nor dismayed.  Isn't it good to know that God is in control?! I believe it is repeated 365 times in the Bible to "fear not" or "be not afraid"  that's a reminder for every day of the year!  That would be a fabulous word study wouldn't it?!!  I know I need to be reminded not to be fearful at times, how about you?  I'm so thankful that I serve the Lord Jesus Christ and He does not fail...ever!

Other Ingredients:
Dies: Spellbinder Nestabilities, Deckled Rectangle; Flutters Die-Delites
Pen: Micron 08 (faux stitching)
Vellum - Paper Accents
Ranger Detail water brush

Thanks so much for visiting!
