Birthday Wishes (TESC#161; PDCC#134) and Happy Birthday, Superman?

Hello Delightful friends and a happy birthday to my brother-in-law, Larry who is 9 days older than me! Got to throw that in there (ha!)  He thinks he is Superman and I have the photo to prove it which is at the end of this post and I may be in trouble...

Here is the final sketch challenge for the Taylored Expressions finale. I'm also entering this into the Play Date Cafe Challenge (Apricot, Canary, Latte and Rose)

The ingredients to my card:  Stamp Sets - Labels of Love and Summer Afternoon (Taylored Expressions); Designer Paper: Prima Marketing Sun Kissed Collection; Bazzill Card Stock; Inks: Memento, Rich Cocoa and Cantaloupe, Distress Inks, Dried Marigold; KaiserCraft lace (cream); ProvoCraft Embossing folder (Cassie's Brocade); Spellbinders Nestabilities Scallop Circle and Standard Circles; The large butterfly is on the paper the other two were fussy cut and adhered with Zots.

My mom and Larry have this one-upmanship thing going every Christmas and she outdid herself on his gift that year (2010), we were rolling on the floor! He is every bit 6'4" so this was quite a sight.  Happy birthday, Larry!

Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.  Isaiah 26:3

Hello - TESC#160

Good Morning Delightful Friends and Family! (or good afternoon or evening, whatever the case may be) Looks like another sunny day here on the north coast, yay!! However there is rain in the forecast for the weekend.  That is not good, we have our annual church barbecue planned for Sunday afternoon and on Saturday is our local Pony Express Days (parade, booths, etc) so rain would really not be a good thing.  Please pray that it will rain Saturday night, that would solve everything.

Here is the challenge sketch from Taylored Expressions (definitely a challenge for me)

TESC#160 (#3 for me for this challenge)

Here are the ingredients:  Paper-Echo Park Summer Days Collection Kit (the tabs on the right top corner are stickers from the kit); Stamp: Taylored Expressions (Love Grows Here set) Ink: Memento tuxedo black; The tree was colored with Copic Markers and the centers were embellished with Ranger Liquid Pearls; The green butterfly was paper pieced, can you tell it is flying off the Spellbinder Standard Circle die?
The base of the card is Bazzill (all card stock) and the second piece of white was embossed with the Polka Dot folder from ProvoCraft.  The zig zags were created by the EK Success border punch Zig Zag Stitching and I punched both sides of a 1" strip of paper from the Echo Park collection to create it. The button and the floss are from Making Memories. I've used my Cuttlebug to emboss and diecut.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a delightful comment, that is so nice of you!!

You're the Best Dad! TESC#159

 Hello Delightful friends and family!
Can you believe how fast this month has flown by! Tomorrow is the last day of May!  This morning, two of my grandkids (Jake & Addy) went with me to take my mom to have her cataract removed and while that was happening. the zoo is just a couple of blocks away so we headed over there. It was a gorgeous morning, the sun was out (a rarity in Eureka) and no wind. Perfect conditions! Well, almost... the zoo wasn't open when we got there so we headed over to Sequoia Park (walking distance) and as Addy (almost 3) got to the top of the slide, announced that she had to go potty, but alas, it was too late, she pee'd her pants! So we hiked back to the car and thankfully had a change of clothes in her bag. Did I mention she also stepped in dog doo? So I had that to contend with as well.... Just a perfect day, a normal day, a day that the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice in it, kind of day! Now we are back at home, Addy is napping, Jakob is "resting" and my mom is back at her home taking a nap (valium will do that to a person) and I'm here on the computer ready to share another card. Perhaps when I finish, I may take a little nap, too. But, what usually happens when I want to do that the phone rings or the kids are wide awake. So..... I'll be content with just folding the clothes and hanging out in cyberland.

Here is my card for the Taylored Expressions final sketch challenges (4 total) This is my second entry and I have two more to make before Friday to qualify for the grand prize!

I used this Loyal (Authentique designer papers Bazzill card stock) Project Pantry Card Kit from Taylored Expressions.

Other ingredients: Ink - Memento, Nautical blue; Mini Twinkles for the tie pin. I've paper pieced the ties and the finished card is A2.

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a sunny Spring day!

Great Is Thy Faithfulness - PDCC#133 and TESC#158

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
It's a beautiful day on the north coast, I love to wake up to the sun streaming into the room.  Hope you all had a safe and reflective Memorial Day (and a little fun as well!)  We had the family over for a barbecue and initiated the new grill.  The grandkids are getting so big and played together so well. Fun day (and the house is still clean minus my craft room, HA!)
Here is a card I made last night for two challenges. The sketch is from Taylored Expressions and the color challenge is Play Date Cafe #133 (light blue, denim and cherry)

Ingredients: Designer paper is the Christy Tomlinson line called She Art and I've used the Faith in Bloom stamp set from Taylored Expressions.  The bakers twine is WeR Memory Keepers, the card stock Bazzill,  the button from my stash.  I've used two punches  (small diamond scallop - EK Success and the Marvy Uchida scallop circle.  I've paper pieced the flower and the sentiment and flower was stamped with Memento nautical blue.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day!

Bloom! TESC157 and PDCC#129

Hello Delightful friends and family!
I've entered two challenges with the card I'm sharing today.
Here is a link to the sketch by Jen Schults for Taylored Expressions #157 and the second challenge is a color challenge for Play Date Cafe #129

Dusk, Magenta & Seedlings

 And here is my card:
I really struggled with the three colors, but while I was at work today I picked up a piece of "dusk" Bazzill card stock for the base.  If I had waited until morning to take the photo it would probably turn out much better but I need to be to work by 9a.m. and there is no way I can get a good shot taken, cropped and get it uploaded before I need to leave the house! By the time I get home in the evening the PDC Challenge would be closed! So I apologize for the dark and shadowy picture. It is what it is!
The designer paper is called Playground by Echo Park.  The pieces used for the banners needed a color enhancement so I took my Copic Marker RV17 Deep Magenta and "enhanced" away.  The stamp set is Taylored Expressions "Garden Party Blooms" and I also used the coordinating die to cut the flower.  It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the leaves were colored with Copic G43 (Pistachio), a button and ribbon from my stash was added to embellish. I used the Spellbinder Circle Die to frame out the flower and the paper is a piece of leftover manila folder from a mini scrapbook I'm making for my great niece. The finished card is A2.  Well, it is late and I already hear the hubs snoring so I'd best be getting myself tucked into my cozy bed.  Have an excellent day and thanks for visiting!

God Is Faithful - TESC#154

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!  I finally made my way into the craft room after a bit of time off with traveling and having some fun with the family.  This is the perfect way for me to get the creative juices flowing again with a sketch.  This one is Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #154 and I've used my new stamp set called Faith in Bloom.  It has adorable flowers and some wonderful Scriptures for encouragement.  (you can see the set at the end of this post)

The paper I've used is from last months Key Ingredient Kit (My Minds Eye - Lost & Found) and Bazzill card stock.  The flower is paper pieced and the leaf is colored with Copic Markers G40 and G43.  The ink is Memento Tuxedo black.  The butterflies are punched out with a Marvy Uchida punch and then the edges darkened with Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap.  The faux stitching was drawn with a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point. I've used the Spellbinders Nestablilities Standard Circle to frame out the focal point.

I won this set by participating in the Key Ingredient Blog Hop last month!!!
Thanks for visiting and taking a peek!  Have a great week.

Bear Hugs - TESC151

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!

Bear hugs to you!!  I had fun making this card for Valentines Day (for my grandson Jakob age: almost 5!!)The sketch from Taylor at Taylored Expressions is fun and easy, I can see myself using it many times.

I tried a new technique (for me) with my Copic coloring to get a bit of texture (kind of) on sweet Buddy Bear.  After coloring all the brown fur (E13, E15, E18), I soaked a small section of a dish towel with the Colorless Blender, then I dabbed around the brown.  The texture of the towel had a weave rather than being terry cloth. It looks somewhat like the basket weave that shows in the background of the photo.  The picture turned out pretty dark but the other one I took was washed out! Drats! This one was truer to the color and since it's getting dark out and it's almost time for our Evening Service at church, I decided this was going to have to be good enough!

I think he is just the cutest.  Perhaps we will be seeing more of him...

Here are the rest of the ingredients to my card:
Designer Paper: Basic Grey - Kissing Booth (stripes and the brown); Card Stock: Bazzill (base)and Neenah bright white; Ink: Memento, Tuxedo Black; Spellbinder Nestabilities: Standard Circles Large and Classic Scallop Circles Large; Buttons (my stash); Anchor Floss 1204;  Copic Markers: E0000, E13, E15, E18, W1, W5, RV25, R01, R81, R83, R85, YG03 and Colorless Blender.  Finished card is 5.5 x 5.5

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a delightful comment, it's so thoughtful of you when you do!  I love the following verse what a boost to those of us who are facing the work week!

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.   Isaiah 40:28-29

God bless....

A Much Appreciated Thank You!

Yay! It's the weekend! Oh wait a minute, I have to work today! That's okay, it should be a fun (and busy) day at work, we are having a crop going on to benefit the Boys and Girls Club (all the crop fees and 10% of all the purchases today will benefit the local club!)  If you are in the Eureka, CA. area be sure and stop by Scrapper's Edge and support the Boys and Girls Club!
Before heading to work I want to share a very special thank you card I made for some friends of ours that did something very sweet for us.  They made reservations for us to stay at a very nice place (The Palomar Hotel for 2 nights!) so that we could celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in style!!  Isn't that so cool!!  So we will be heading to San Francisco in the near future to take in a Giants game and enjoy a bit of pampering!  I can hardly wait, I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!!

This card also qualifies for three challenges:
Taylored Expressions Sketch #144
Christian Paper Crafts Bible Verse Thursday (Thankful) #120
The Shabby Tea Room challenge #75 Polkadots

The main ingredients for this card come from the July Key Ingredient Kit from Taylored Expressions (designer paper, card stock, ribbon and chipboard fence).  The Stamp set is actually two different sets from T.E. Garden Party Blooms and the sentiment: Much Appreciated) Ink: Memento Tuxedo black;  I've colored the bloom with my Copic Markers: R21, R22, R32 then sponged the edges with Distress Inks: Worn Lipstick and very lightly with Vintage Photo.  Liquid Pearls (Ranger) White Opal were used for the center of the flower.  The stem and petals were colored with Copics: YG11, YG23,YG45, YG93,YG99 and E79.  The border punch is EK Success Scallop Diamond.

The Scripture is a Verve Stamp (Psalm 37:4)
The recipients of this card will completely understand the verse I've chose!
Close up to see the chip board fence that I painted with Adirondack (Lights) Dabbers, Juniper, and then added Old Papers Crackle Paint - you'll need to enlarge the photo to see that effect and I also sanded the edges of the fence to give it a shabby, peeled look.  The shimmery bow (from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient July kit is a fun chic accent!)

Enjoy your Saturday and hope you have a blessed weekend!
Thanks for visiting and I look forward to your comments!!
God bless!

Do You Need A Vacation or Just a Rest?

Welcome Delightful Friends and Family!!
So the question to be answered is vacation vs rest. The short answer can be found on my card that I'm sharing with you all today. Are you weary, are you burdened beyond what you feel is within you capabilities? Well, trust me in this, it's not in a vacation or a weekend getaway that will give the relief you may need. True rest is in the Lord. It can be chaos all around but you can still have "rest" it's so refreshing to place every burden in the Lord's hand and know without a doubt that He will carry not only your burdens but you!! A relationship with Jesus Christ is what brings about peace that a weekend getaway, or an extended vacation just can't quite supply, don't get me wrong physical rest is important and I love to "getaway" and believe me I need that at times, but in the long run, it's the rest in the Lord that truly satisfies. Done preaching :-)

Today's card is for two challenges:
#1 Stampin' Sisters in Christ #47
#2 Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #121 (isn't this a great sketch!!) Love it!

Here is my card:

Here are the deets: All but the ink and the stamp are from the June Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions - Designer Paper:October Afternoon, Fly a Kite ) Stamp: Verve; Ink: Memento, rich cocoa; Distress ink, Frayed Burlap for blending around circles; Smooch (pearlized white accent ink for dots) Marvy Uchida Scallop Circle punch.

Thanks for taking a peek and I love to read your comments.

Have a restful and delightful weekend!

Happy Birthday! More challenges...

Just want to say Happy Birthday to my sweet husband, Kerry!! We're getting ready to go have dinner with all the kids and grandkids at my mom's house. Our oldest daughter has been planning this for at least a month. We almost weren't able to pull it off due to the weather and trying to get crab this time of the year can be iffy, but we did it (shhhh! don't tell Kerry, he doesn't have a clue).

In the meantime, I thought I'd post a card I made this morning. I was inspired by the Taylor Expression Sketch #107 and the Stamp Something challenge today is PINK SOMETHING and I was able to incorporate two other challenges, Stampin' Sister's in Christ Tole Paper Challenge (SSCC #32) and Our Daily Bread Designs Monochromatic challenge (SNTODBD6). Hope you like my card!

Here are my ingredients:

Stamp: Our Daily Bread Designs (sentiment) Hero Arts (butterfly)

Ink: Palette, black

Paper: Basic Grey; Paper Accents (black cardstock)

Embellishments: Buttons (Bo Bunny and American Crafts)

Tools: Martha Stewart, Border punch; EK Success, corner rounder; Marvy Uchida, scallop circle punch; Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Well, thanks for looking I'm heading out to eat some yummy dinner!! Crab, tri-tip steak, potatoes, artichokes, salad, corn on the cob (who knows what else! It will be a feast to celebrate a much loved daddy's birthday!)

I promise moderation will be on the menu, too!

Happy Birthday to You! 2 sketches and 2 cards!

Welcome!! Today is my niece Bobbi's birthday and since I won't get the card mailed off in time to get there (duh!) I thought of the next best thing.... since she reads my blog (since you read my blog B.Wright) she can get a preview of what will be coming in the snail mail!! Happy Birthday to you, Bobbi!!! I will see you in February, right or is that Wright, Miss Adventurous one?

And while I was at it I found this great sketch at Taylored Expressions AND I did the Color Monday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts which was the color TEAL and WHITE and your choice of another color and I chose YELLOW. Perfect for the Basic Grey DP (pattern, yellow and teal solid cut with a nestabilities diecut) I used. I'm also continuing to use the Gina K Designs stamps, (our sponsor this month at CPC) How Sweet it is! set and Pure Luxury cardstock (cream). The yellow Basic Grey was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The button is from GKD and the flowers are Making Memories. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. I blended antique linen and mustard seed Distress Ink around the image.
TESC98 and CPC-CM40

Okay I've got even another card to share and another birthday! It was my friend Francie's birthday on Saturday and I didn't get this card in the mail in time for this one either and today is Martin Luther King Day and I don't believe there is any postal service, so it will be really late. What's the saying I'm not perfect, just forgiven :-)
I also used another fabulous sketch this time from the Card Patterns blog (Nina B. is hosting this weeks challenge, with a fabulous giveaway, check it out!)

inside of card
