Dude, Happy Birthday!

Hello Delightful friends and family!

We had a birthday in our extended family last week.  My sister's boyfriends' son (I'm not checking to see if I did the punctuation correctly on that! ha!)  Anyway, I needed a masculine card for a teenage boy and I happened to have this digi image from ByLori Designs (Ethan) that hadn't been colored and it was perfect for Hunter who just happens to be into skateboarding.  Yay!!  So I pulled out my Copics and colored away!  I've used the Avery Elle stamp set called Surf's Up for the sentiment and the matching Happy Birthday is on the inside (love the font!).  The card base is Neenah Desert Storm (Scrapper's Edge) and the designer paper is Echo Park (Scoot 6x6 pad).  I've used the Taylored Expressions matching stamp and die set Garden Party Blooms.  Ink: Archival Jet Black and Dandelion.  The faux stitching was made by a Faber Castell Big Artist Pen in white.

I'll be playing along with the challenges at the following blogs:
Seize the Birthday (Anything Goes)
Word Art Wednesday #149 (Anything Goes)

Keeping it simple on the inside.

Well that's it for me!  Thanks for visiting.

The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.  Psalm 34:22

Birthday Wishes

Hello Delightful friends and family,
Hooray it's Friday, right??  Hope you have a great weekend. I will be busy on Saturday at the church preparing for an event that I will be speaking at in March and also for our Ladies Bible Study on March 3.  So it's doubtful that I'll be spending much time in my craft room this weekend.  I did have a little time before Jake and Addy came over this morning to make a birthday card for my great niece who is turning two.  She lives in New York but is in Oregon to visit her grandparents (my sister). My mom and my other sister will be heading up there this weekend to celebrate with little Miss Laurel, so the card and gift will be making it to her in time for her party. Happy Birthday Laurel!!!

I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:
Seize the Sketch #14

Word Art Wednesday (Anything Goes #120)

Birthday Card - Sunday Style Challenge 5

Happy Friday to you all!
Hubby is taking the two little granddaughters for a walk to the post office (Jake and Addy are off to the waterslides with their mom & dad, otherwise we'd have all four here today) and so I thought I'd sneak in here real quick-like and post this card I made early this morning for Amy's Sunday Style Challenge.  The ingredients follow...  I'd best hurry I think I hear the pitter patter of tiny feet!  I'm also off to finish cleaning we are having a big BBQ and our Church "Family Night" in our backyard with the group from Teen Challenge.  I'm so thankful Kerry (hubby) has this week off from the mill, I don't know how I'd get everything done!

INSIDE OF CARD

All the ingredients came from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit for July. The DP this month is Cosmo Cricket, Tea for Two.  The following was not included in the kit: Digi image from By Lori Designs, the sentiment on the outside is from Taylored Expressions Bikes and Trikes; Inside sentiment: Hero Arts; Spellbinders Nestabilities Scallop Oval; Memento, Tuxedo Black Ink.  I colored the sweet little girl with my Copic Markers.

Thanks for visiting and be sure and visit Amy's blog: Scrappin' N Style (see link above).

CPS Day 15 Card (Sketch 231) the Kiddos and Baseball!

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
So thankful I was able to finish this card tonight!  Fifteen cards and fifteen sketch challenges complete! Yay!! Perhaps I'll win one of the prizes, that would be cool.
I'm also sharing a few pics of the grandkiddos I took today (end of post).  We are having some crazy weather for February!  Monday was freezing cold plus an earthquake, today has warmed up enough to play outside with Jakob and Addy.

Day 15 sketch - CPS#231
Here is my last card to share for the Anniversary Celebration at Card Positioning Systems so I want to say another CONGRATS to Tami Mayberry and her DT for the outstanding inspiration they've been sharing for the last five years!  Be sure and check out Day 15 and Kim Moreno's adorable card!
My card today is a birthday card (I have two daughters, a daughter-in-law, three granddaughters, my mom, two sisters, three nieces so I never run out of a need of a girlie birthday card!)  This digi image is  Marcie from the Bug and Roo Friends at Lori Boyd Designs another little sweetie that reminds me of Addy!
This card also qualifies for the challenge at By Lori Designs using HEARTS BLD#24

I've use the Echo Park  paper called "Little Girl"; card stock is Bazzill and the image was copied onto Neenah card stock. The scalloped edge is a sticker from the Echo Park collection. The sentiment is a digi from By Lori Designs and I fussy cut it out.  I've used my Copics to color and then fussy cut Marcie and adhered her to another piece of the Neenah bright white card stock and then used my Spellbinder Nestabilities Deckled Rectangle Die to frame her out.  I was trying so hard to get the hair color similar to Addy's gorgeous red highlights but I fell very short!  I need to practice a lot more!

Rosy cheeks and dark brown eyes!

Look at those highlights!

We are so ready for baseball season to start!!
My sister and daughters (and my mom and husband) secretly conspired to make it possible for me to go to Arizona for a couple of San Francisco Giant spring season games with the girls this year.  I'm so excited, we all are huge Giant fans, usually from afar or watching the games on television.  Kerry (dh) and I try and go once a year during our anniversary week which is fun for both of us (Game, then shopping in the city! Can't beat that!) He won't be going to Spring Training due to his job at the mill and then pastoring the church, it makes it difficult for him to get away.  Maybe next year....

T-Ball is just around the corner, Jake's got a wicked swing and was really hitting the ball well today, it surprised me because it's been a while since we've played.

The spot he is standing is the exact spot my children stood playing homerun derby with the wiffle ball in the backyard!  Those were some good times!  Of course by the end of the summer, I had no grass only base paths but that was ok.
Oh yeah, we are ready for some baseball....

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.  1 Peter 2:9

Thanks for visiting! Hope you'll leave a delightful comment.  God bless!

Hey There! CPS Anniversary Day 7 card & TPE

Hello Delightful Friends and family!
Hope this day is finding you well.  I'm learning to be thankful for God's divine interventions (aka interruptions!).  I'm sure you all can relate to interruptions (big and small) but how many of us really want to be thankful and accept them as part of God's divine plan for our lives?  Just a little thought for the day for you!!  There is a study by Priscilla Shirer that is titled "Jonah, Navigating A Life Interrupted" and I just finished day one, so we will see what other tidbits I can share with you all as I do this weekly study and homework!

Here is the sketch for day 7 of the anniversary celebration at Card Positioning Systems and I'm sneaking in another color challenge (to use pink) at The Pink Elephant #134 which is also celebrating their 3rd birthday (Congrats to Lori Boyd of By Lori Designs!).

CPS#242

As you can see (at least I hope you can!) I've flipped the sketch, I was having a real challenge with this one for some reason!  But here it is:

Digi stamp Gretchen (how cute is she!) from the Bug & Roo Collection by Hannah Boyd (By Lori Designs) the sentiment is Taylored Expressions from the Labels of Love set.
I'm still so new to coloring with Copic markers and hair is such a challenge for me to get highlights just right and subtle cheek color!  I really need to take a class but I know a lot of it is practice and there are a lot of great YouTube tutorials available, I just need to find time to do both!

Here are the Copics I've used.

Other ingredients:  Designer Paper: Echo Park (Yours Truly); Card Stock: Bazzill and Neenah.  Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangle, Cuttlebug (ProvoCraft); Heart punch (unknown); Hinge Clip (Tim Holtz idea-ology line); Ribbon, American Crafts; Memento Tuxedo black ink; HP printer.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34

Thanks again for visiting and leaving a delightful comment, it always is a blessing!

Introducing Ivy - Hugs and Kisses

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
It's almost Friday, yay!!  Hope you are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend ahead.  Not sure what's in the works for me other than going to Jake's Kindersport basketball on Saturday and church on Sunday.  I'm hoping to get a lot of the preliminary "stuff" done for Sunday, Friday a.m., so that I can actually enjoy a Saturday rather than always feeling pressed for time.  Enough about me...

Here is an adorable new image from the Bug and Roo Collection created by 15 year old Hannah Boyd (daughter of Lori of  BY LORI Designs) she is one talented young lady!  This is Ivy one of six new images.  This one reminds me so much of our little Addy (2-1/2 yr old granddaughter) who has beautiful curly brown hair.  I made this card to give her for Valentines Day.

I'm participating in two challenges with this card.
2.  Photo Inspiration Challenge (BLD 23) at By LORI Designs

HELLO! BLD #22 & CPS #250

Hi Delightful Friends and Family!
Today I'm sharing a card for fun.  Two challenges, a sketch and a color challenge.
Lori Boyd is starting up her challenges again (yay!!) This week is a color challenge and I'm using one of her digis from the Sugar Sticks Collection named Sallie (isn't she adorable?!)

Yummy colors!

Here is my card using the sketch from Card Positioning Systems #250

I'm trying really hard to only use paper from my scrap basket so unfortunately I cannot tell you what designer paper I've used.  The card stock is Bazzill and Neenah (bright white).  I've used the Marvy Uchida punch to punch out the image and the Fiskars border punch (Upper Crest) for the side border, EK Success Corner punch (one of my fav tools) rounded the bottom edges of the card base.  The sentiment stamp is from Taylored Expressions (Bugabee set) and the ink is Palette, black, I've used my scissors to cut the ends of the paper.   I've accented Sallie's dress, bow and shoes using Smooch pearlized accent ink (moonlit, sassy pink).  The Copic markers used are: E09, E15, E18, E35; R000, R00, R11, R21, R81, R83, R85;   The finished card is A2 size.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week!  God bless.

Winter Birthday Card using Card Patterns Sketch 147

Hello Delightful friends and family!
I've been on a roll the last few days and have been able to get some cards made for some birthdays and thank you cards that needed to get sent out.  I'm almost done with the ones I need for the first half of the month!  Sean liked his card a lot! (read last post) His wife, Amy has a birthday at the end of the month so I'll be searching for just the right stamp to make her card soon.  Here is the latest sketch challenge I found to play along to get the crafty juices flowing!  Here is the link to the Card Patterns Blog.
And here is my card, the sentiment inside is from Taylored Expressions which I didn't take a pic of but all the paper and the buttons on the front are from the Key Ingredient Kit from December from TE.  This cute image is from By Lori Designs and she is a Puddle Jumper named Winter Dana and her friend Penny.

Here is the rest of the ingredients:  Designer paper: Bella Blvd - Christmas Wishes; Card Stock: Bazzill, Neenah; Ink: HP computer generated; Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangle; Spica Pens: Melon (scarf) Red (bow and zipper);  This image was colored by Copic markers:  R000, R00, R14, R20, R22, R32, R46; YG67, YG03, YG63; E00, E31, E13, E51; Y19; BLACK 100; Distress Ink, worn lipstick was used to soften the bright white edges of the card stock; American Crafts ribbon was used to embellish this A2 card.
Thanks for looking and may God bless you this week!

Happy Birthday Card with Just Us Girls Sketch 118

Hey Delightful Friends and Family!
I found a fun sketch at the Just Us Girls blog which I've been following but have never played. I thought it would be perfect for the card I was making for my son's birthday (on Monday!).  As far as I know Sean does not read my blog so I'm safe to post it a day early!  He was quite the football player in high school. So when I saw this fun digi from By Lori Boyd (Puddle Jumpers Gavin)  I couldn't resist, especially since it's football season!  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Taylored Expressions (Jess - The Moka Collection).

Here are the rest of the ingredients:  Designer Paper: Basic Grey; Card Stock: Neenah and Bazzill; Ink: Palette, Black;  Distress Inks - Antique Linen and Vintage Photo; Spellbinders Nestabilities Petite Scallop Oval; Cuttlebug; Copic Markers: R000, R00, R21, R39; B18, B41, B45; YR12; Y28; E09, E15, E18, E19.

Thanks for looking!  Have a blessed day and take time to be grateful.

Did You Say "BACK to SCHOOL?"

Hey Delightful Friends and Family!  We are enjoying summer days here and I truly don't want to make you think about this BUT here, school IS just around the corner again!  Can you believe it?  Do you even want to think about it?  Me either! HOWEVER... here in northern California, school will be starting in just a couple more weeks, (just when the weather is starting to cooperate and act like summer, too!).  Well, that's just our neck of the woods and something we've learned to accept living in the north end of the state. Late summer is always gorgeous around here and we enjoy it.  I don't have to go to school although I almost always ;-) like those teachable moment that come along!  Are we ever too old to learn?!

On the 15th of each month Christian Paper Crafts opens the Design Team Delights private gallery for all Super Sisters and King’s Daughters subscription holders, there are cards, scrapbook layouts and fun altered projects that go along with this months theme of  Back To School.  The five days prior to that are the Gracious Glimpses for all to see at the Creative Blog!

Many of you have grandchildren or nieces and nephews that do not live close, I think it would be nice to send them a card and let them know you are keeping them lifted up in prayer during the school year.  I have a nephew who is starting as a new student at a Christian School and is having some family issues that could make things a little bit harder for him to stay focused.  I won't be sending him this card (just a little too girlie for a boy!) but I've made another one that will do nicely.  So here is my sneak peek:

I just love this little digi from ByLORiDesigns!  Her name is Lacey Lollipop. I've printed and resized the digi image using Microsoft Publisher 10 and printed her out on Neenah (Bright White). After coloring with my Copic Markers I used the Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities Die from Spellbinders to cut the shape and to frame out the image.  The finished card is A2.

(inside)

Ingredients:  Stamps: Taylored Expressions (Summer Wreath set - both sentiments); Ink: Memento, Tuxedo Black; Designer Paper: Karen Foster, (Writing Practice, Buses); Bazzill card stock; Copic Markers: G24; BG53, 99; E00, 15, 37, 79, 95, 97; YG00, 23, 67, 91, 93, 95; Y26; R46.

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll leave a delightful comment!  Don't forget to check out the other sneak peaks at the Creative Blog!!  You won't be disappointed, there have been some fabulous projects shared to inspire you!
Don't forget that you can join the fun on August 22, if you have a Back to School themed project we'd love for you to LINK UP with us and share at the Christian Paper Crafts Creative Blog Hop!!

Christian Paper Crafts Sweet Summertime - Sneak Peak!

Welcome!! It's my turn to share a little summer inspiration just for you! Each month the Design Team Delights feature a different theme and this month is Sweet Summertime.  So, here is my sweet summer sneak peak (that could qualify as a tongue twister!)  This is the last day of the sneak peeks and I hope you've been following along for the last few days at the CPC Creative Blog.(it's not to late to see the other sneak peeks!)  Tomorrow is the big reveal for our members!!  It's been a very productive month and there are soooo many cards, projects and just plain old sweet summer creative  inspiration for you!

Here is my card:

The papers were torn and distressed, then stickles added to the water edges (icicles color) and gold to the sand to give it a little glisten but it's not showing up in the picture.  Why gold? Have you ever heard of fools' gold.  We have it in some of the sand around the lakes in our area. A dot of Liquid Pearls was added to the "i" in "special".

I've cut out the pail and shovel and positioned them and then added dimensionals to adhere so it looks like Cole (our cute digital stamp) is carrying them.

view of the inside (notice I've cut apart the sandcastle to fit on the front and I used the leftover for the inside!)

Lori Boyd Digi Stamps (Cole)
Copics: E00, E31, E15, E97; RV69, YR07, Y08; C1; B29, B66, B45, B63, N3
Designer Paper: Creative Imaginations (Helen Darkik); Card Stock: Bazzill and Neenah; EK Success Jolie sticker: Sandcastle; Ranger Stickles: Icicle and Gold; Ranger Liquid Pearls, Cantaloupe; Sentiment stamps: Inkadinkadoo; Distress Tool by Heidi Swapp. Technique: tearing and Copic coloring.
Finished card: 4.25 x 5.5"
