Summer Fun Card!

Hello Delightful friends and family!
Hope this summer day was a pleasant one for you.  It cooled off a bit today and late this afternoon I spent about 3 hours doing yard work at my mom's home with my daughter Amy and my sister Brooke.  It's amazing how fast the weeds take over!  Mom gets home tomorrow from having hip replacement surgery late June and even has the okay to drive home.  This hip surgery was much easier for her than the last one.  So thankful to the Lord for her speedy recovery.
Here is a card I did this evening and I will enter it at the following challenges:

The Cutting Edge Challenge #4 (inspiration photo)
Word Art Wednesday #142 Anything goes

I was inspired by the colors black, red, white and gray, the baker's twine and squares. It was strange not to add a sentiment to the front but I am waiting for an occasion to come up before adding one.  This could be a cute beach party themed birthday card or a summer "thinking of you" card. I added a simple sentiment inside.

Here is the inspiration photo for my card:

Inside card with sentiment from Taylored Expressions "Summer Lovin" stamp set (Key Ingredient Stamp of the Month set); I've used the matching dies from this set  for the Flip Flops on the front of the card (see image below) and 2 different Spellbinder Nestabilites (Labels One and A2 Matting Basics B); EK Success Wave border Punch; Ink: Hero Arts Red Royal mid tone and Archival Jet Black;
The Designer paper is WeR Memory Keepers (Chalkboard 6x6 pad); baker's twine (WR Memory Keepers) Button (my stash).

Here is the cute Taylored Expressions die set I used.

Well, that's it for me tonight.  Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Whitewash Woodgrain Masculine Birthday Card

Hello Delightful friends and family!
Playing along at Seize the Sketch #22.  This card I made for my grandson's little neighbor who celebrated his 8th birthday this week.  I also tried out this new technique for the first time for the background.  I love it! So easy and quick and perfect for the summer.  Here's a link to the website to the Whitewash Woodgrain technique (thanks Gina K Designs!).

I've used stamps from Taylored Expression on the front.  The twine (Darice) the button is Corrugated Shapes (Jillibean soup - Key Ingredient embellie from T.E.)  The ink for the background is Distress Ink (Frayed Burlap) then I applied Tsukineko Brilliance (Moonlight White) over it after I had scored 1/2" lines on a piece of bright teal card stock.  Ink for the sentiments Memento (Rich Cocoa).

Inside of the card:  Another Corrugated shape from Jillibean Soup, The little car is from Lawn Fawn (Happy Trails and I've colored it with Copic markers and then embellished it with Glossy Accents.  The sentiment is from BoBunny  and the Designer Paper is MME "Boy Crazy" collection.

I'll also be sharing this card at WORD ART WEDNESDAY #137 (Anything Goes)

Thanks for visiting and have a great FRIDAY!!

Happy Birthday Jake!

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
Today is our oldest grandchild's birthday!  Jakob turns seven today and here is the card I made for him.  He started taking Jiu Jitsu lessons in the fall and has been doing great.  A couple of weeks ago he earned his yellow belt so when I saw this LaLa Land Craft stamp I had to get it for his birthday card.  The name of the stamp is Karate Luka but we won't tell Jake!
I've colored Luka with Copic markers and the paper I've used is from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit for February (WeR Memory Keepers 6x6 pad Hip Hip Hooray and the HB sentiment is from the stamp of the month Birthday Bash) I've used the following inks: Memento (tuxedo black, nautical blue) Distress Inks (antique linen, peacock feathers, mustard seed); Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circle Die.
More pictures to come after his party...

Inside of the card (stamps: MFT & Hero Arts)

I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:

Birthday Wishes

Hello Delightful friends and family,
Hooray it's Friday, right??  Hope you have a great weekend. I will be busy on Saturday at the church preparing for an event that I will be speaking at in March and also for our Ladies Bible Study on March 3.  So it's doubtful that I'll be spending much time in my craft room this weekend.  I did have a little time before Jake and Addy came over this morning to make a birthday card for my great niece who is turning two.  She lives in New York but is in Oregon to visit her grandparents (my sister). My mom and my other sister will be heading up there this weekend to celebrate with little Miss Laurel, so the card and gift will be making it to her in time for her party. Happy Birthday Laurel!!!

I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:

3x3 Valentine Card and Envelope with Paper Bow

Hey Delightful friends and family!

Here is a little sample of a 3x3 Valentine card with envelope.  No big deal right?  But I just watched a YouTube to make a paper bow using the Envelope Punch Board from WeR Memory Keepers.  It's super easy and I think a super cute way to embellish this little envelope.  Here is the link.  I decided not to add the bottom layer on my bow, I liked it better without it.  But check out the video if you haven't seen it yet!
I've used the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit and Stamp of the Month (Kiss Me) for the 3x3 card and envelope.  I've also used the Marvy Uchida Scallop Heart Punch (2 different sizes) and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The envelope flap tucks under the heart to close it.
The white heart is popped up with dimensional squares.

I'm going to take this envelope w/bow to work and suggest it for a Make and Take that we do on Mondays and Tuesdays.  I think our crafters will love it!

My little granddaughters will love these for their 3x3 Valentine cards!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a great weekend!

Hugs and Kisses Forever - Sentimental Sundays (190) and WAW (116)

Hello Delightful friends and family!
It's another sunny day in northern California.  My little granddaughters (ages 3 & 4) are having fun playing in the backyard, we just got back from church and Ladies Bible study, then it was a quick walk to the post office, had lunch and now they are enjoying the afternoon playing "school" with their Leap Pads. Won't be long before we will be heading to the school to pick up Jakob and hand little Princess Tucker over to her momma.  Busy day! Thankfully dinner is in the crockpot!

I made this card to play in a new (for me) challenge at Sentimental Sundays and Word Art Wednesday #116 (Anything Goes) plus I really need to add to my short stack of Valentine cards!  The challenge at Sentimental Sundays is to have more than 3 layers to your card plus a sentiment.  Okay... so this is a little out of my comfort zone, it's my version of perhaps a "modified" shabby chic styled card.  More on the shabby than chic I'm afraid.  I've distressed the edges, did a tiny line of stitching (in the middle), and inked around the edges of one of the panels and the heart.

Ingredients:   Paper and stamp (Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit and Stamp set of the month - Jan. 2014); Buttons, twine and staple (stash) Inks: Distress Inks, Worn Lipstick and Antique Linen; Sentiment: Sticker from Authentique (6x6 Bundle: Smitten Collection); Heart punch (Marvy Uchida: Super Jumbo); Paper Distresser

Thanks so much for looking!! Have a great week!

The rich and the poor have a common bond.  The LORD is the maker of them all.  Proverbs 22:2

Love Notes - Valentine card

Hello Delightful friends and family
Well I've been enjoying all the wonderful Valentine cards I've been seeing throughout blogland and Pinterest and so I have finally jumped in and made my first one for 2014.  I was inspired by the sketch at Clean&Simple stamping challenge (#275) although I don't think it's anything close to being clean and simple (ha!)

Here is the sketch that inspired me and you can see it had a mind of it's own ;-)

I used my WR Memory Keeps Envelope board to create the envelope (fits a 3x3 card).  The base is a pre-scored white card (A2) and envelope set from Paper Accents.  The designer paper (Crate Paper - Love Notes) and card stock are from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit this month.  I've used a couple of different stamps.  The focal stamp is this darling pup from Penny Black (Crush - wood mount) and I've stamped Crush with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics.  I've embossed with clear embossing powder on the top half of the card with a heart stamp from Taylored Expressions Stamp of the Month (January : Kiss Me).
The scalloped heart is a Marvy Uchida mega punch, the bookmark is a die from Taylored Expressions.

(inside of card - cute sentiment stamps from the Stamp of the Month from Taylored Expressions and the punch is EK Success Binding Edge Edger)

I'll be entering this card at:

Thanks so much for visiting!! Enjoy the rest of the week.

Birthday Wishes

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful week.  I'm a little under the weather but you know how it is - moms just don't usually have the luxury of pulling up the covers and staying in bed. I'm drinking lots of fluids and trying to stay low key but.... you know - easier said than done!   I do have a few cards I've made to share over the next few days, so doing that will be my "resting" time. (lol)

This card is made from the November Key Ingredient kit from Taylored Expressions.  This kit has a darling stamp set this month and I love the Fancy Pants designer paper (happy-go-lucky collection).
I've used Memento rich cocoa ink to stamp the image and sentiment.  The dies used are from Spellbinders Shapeabilities (doily), Nestabilities Classic Circle and the My Favorite Things Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers Stax. The border punch is from EK Success.  I've colored the image with Copic Markers. I stamped the flowers twice and fussy cut the second one and popped it up with a dimensional.  The ribbon and button are from my stash.  This card is for my youngest sister who is having a birthday this week.

I'm entering this in the Seize the Birthday (Anything Goes Birthday) and Sister Act Card Challenge #32

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the week!

Love in Action - Word Art Wednesday #106

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
Hope you are having an awesome day!! Here is my second project for Word Art Wednesday (Anything Goes) Challenge blog.  We would love for you to  link up and join us at the WAW challenge with a Family Friendly project!

I just love the digital image by Mo Manning called "You're My Best" I've colored her with my Copic Markers, then fussy cut her out and used dimensionals to pop her up. I used a pink Spica pen on her nails, the heart on her skirt and the teddy bear's ears but it's only sparkly in person, the photo isn't picking it up.

The designer paper is We R Memory Keepers (Happy Camper 6x6 paper pad), I love the colors in this collection and it came in my August Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit.  I diecut the Scripture verse with the My Favorite Things Die-Namics, Fishtail Flags Stax.
Card Stock: Bazzill and Neenah.  Ink: Distress Ink, Vintage photo (around the edges)

This is the inside of the card and I've used the MFT Die-Namics Fishtail flags Stax and the Spellbinder Nestabilities, Wonky Reverse Rectangle die; Ink: Archival, Russet; Stamp Set: Taylored Expressions, "Thankful" set.

Thanks for visiting!

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

For a Friend - Flip, Flap, Oodles of Folds (LOVEFEST2013D)

Hello Delightful friends and family!
Hope you are enjoying thoughts of the upcoming weekend.  I was able to get a lot of errands done today for my hubby for the Men's Ministry to free his time up a bit. No easy job with two rambunctious grandkids who are feeling a bit of cabin fever.  By the looks of the sky I think we are in store for another cold and wet afternoon.  So glad I was able to get the running around done early enough to miss the raindrops!  Late last night I finished a card/giftcard holder set featuring the Scor-Pal for the Splitcoast Stamper's Member Company Love Fest challenge.  When I got to looking I realized I skipped over the Stamping Bella challenge (Bring on the Bling) Oops! So, I'll be working on that later after the little ones head home.  I should just take a picture of my fingernails, little Miss Addy (age 3) painted my nails with "Rockstar Pink Glitter nail polish!! (speaking of bling!)  You can only imagine......
Well, here is my entry for the Scor-Pal challenge.  It's a criss cross pocket card found here.
Ingredients:
The designer paper is from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient kit this month (My Minds Eye  -  Meadowlark Collection, 6x6 pad) Bazzill and Neenah card stock.  Ribbon and button from the KI Kit and the stamp I've used is from TE called Summer Afternoon, the sentiment Faith in Bloom (also TE). The flower is a die from the Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers - Tattered mini florals from Sizzix.  I've made a pocket for the gift card in the insert.  Ink- Memento tuxedo black and I've used Distress Ink - Black Soot to ink around the edges of the flower.

Sorry the pic is a little dark, I took this early this morning and my camera battery really was in need of recharging (and I really need a lightbox!)

All 3 pieces

Well, that's it for me for now.  So glad to have power and internet service again.  A delivery truck hit a power pole in town around 4a.m. and it's been on again off again as they have been replacing the pole and power.  Thankfully no one one was injured in the mishap.

Thanks for visiting.  Enjoy your Friday evening!

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.  Psalm 42:11

Encouragment Card - Word Art Wednesday #56

Hello Delightful friends and family!
I have been completely MIA from my blog this month!!  I'm having computer woes! I need to invest in a new computer but it's just not the top priority financially right at the moment. So... I'm a bit hit and miss here because it's too frustrating to work on a computer that's ready to give up the ghost and slower than dial up (no kidding)!  However, I've been very busy making lots of cards for our Ladies Ministry Christmas Party coming up on the 8th, I'm making 25 cards for that, plus finishing up the cards for my 2 sisters and my sister-in-laws birthdays this month. It's been a very busy month.
My oldest daughter is heading to Mexico for a week long vacation and it's her birthday tomorrow, so I doubt she will see this but I still want to say,  "Happy Birthday, AMY!!!"

I'm so thankful for the Lord's goodness and I believe this Scripture I've used works perfectly for this weeks Word Art Wednesday challenge. So without further ado....

Most of the ingredients are from this months Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit. The stamp is from the set called Faith in Bloom. The dies are Chevron Border (Taylored Expressions) and Spellbinders Oval Scallop Nestabilities. I've used Memento Nautical Blue to stamp the image and the sentiment.  Super simple card to make.  I'm hoping in the very near future to make room for my sewing machine so I can start to embellish the cards with some stitching, I just love that added touch!

He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor. Proverbs 21:21

Please keep us lifted up in prayer.  Our church fellowship has some members with very serious physical problems and need a touch from the Lord.  There are three members with late stages of cancer; one young man (24 yrs) just had a lung transplant (he was born with cystic fibrosis) so this is a miracle in itself for him to be given such a precious gift but it also means that someone else's family is suffering the loss of a loved one. Also, substance abuse in our area is very high and the effects of this in the families is heart wrenching.  It's very difficult to see so many families hurting.  When one member hurts, we all hurt for them and when it's multiplied over, it can at times be very overwhelming, especially for the pastor so please pray for my husband and I to be strengthened by the Lord, who is always so faithful.  To God be all the glory.
Thanks for visiting and thank you for your prayers!

In Everything Give Thanks - Stamp 'n Send challenge and WAW #51

Hello Delightful friends and family!
Hope you are enjoying your day!  We've had a definite swing in the weather and it's turned very cold.  Not the norm for us, usually October is still very warm, but today we can see the snow up on the mountain and there is a definite chill in the air!  A wonderful day to stay indoors and craft away!! Which as soon as I finish this post, that is my plan!
Here is the inspiration photo and colors for my card which is the third challenge  for the Taylored Expressions Stamp 'n Send event that has been ongoing since World Cardmaking Day.  You can find this weeks challenge info at Splitcoast Stampers TE forum HERE.

I have a friend I will be sending this to, she is also a pastor's wife and is always encouraging me, so now it's my turn to give some encouragement.  I will be sharing this at Word Art Wednesday challenge #51 (Anything Goes), also!

Here is the list of the ingredients:Stamp: Taylored Expressions - Cozy Cabin set; Paper: Simple Stories Harvest Lane, Bazzill Card Stock, Ribbon (Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit Oct 2012); Button (Key Ingredient Kit Sept. 2012); Copics: E19, E33, E25, E39, E57, E79, E89; Y00, Y11, W0, W5, R37, R38.

I've been really enjoying the Jennifer Rothchild Bible study called Missing Pieces.  Todays lesson was on how we react when God doesn't answer our prayer according to our will or desire.  Very thought provoking and convicting. I am so thankful today that I can trust God's Word to be true and sure and is a firm foundation.   Even more importantly I can have faith in God and know that He indeed knows what's best for me and even if the answer is no or wait, I can trust Him.  God is faithful.

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 2 Peter 1:20-21

Simple Things - Sunday Style Challenge 6

Hello Delightful friends and family!!
Just a very quick post to share this card.  I'm entering it it the challenge from Amy's blog Scrappin N Style for the Sunday Style Challenge #6 - Fall theme.  I'm just getting it in under the wire!  So thankful we had an extra day, I needed it!!   Sorry the pic isn't the greatest, I had to take it this evening and the lighting was poor.
The end of summer and the beginning of fall means pulling out my sunflowers, leaves and pumpkins to decorate.  So, I chose a sunflower stamp from Taylored Expressions called Thankful.  I colored it with my Copic Markers (R59, YG63, YG95, YR20,YR15) and fussy cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals.

Other Ingredients:  Designer Paper: Prima Marketing (Doodle Deux) from the Key Ingredient kit for July, Bazzzill card stock; Memento Tuxedo black ink; American Crafts ribbon; EK Success corner rounder punch.

Thank you for looking!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Birthday Card - Sunday Style Challenge 5

Happy Friday to you all!
Hubby is taking the two little granddaughters for a walk to the post office (Jake and Addy are off to the waterslides with their mom & dad, otherwise we'd have all four here today) and so I thought I'd sneak in here real quick-like and post this card I made early this morning for Amy's Sunday Style Challenge.  The ingredients follow...  I'd best hurry I think I hear the pitter patter of tiny feet!  I'm also off to finish cleaning we are having a big BBQ and our Church "Family Night" in our backyard with the group from Teen Challenge.  I'm so thankful Kerry (hubby) has this week off from the mill, I don't know how I'd get everything done!

Pinwheel Gift Bag - Key Ingredient Delightful Challenge!

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
I'm sharing a white gift bag I've customized for this months Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Blog Hop Challenge.  The challenge (which I definitely felt it a challenge!! oy!) is Delightful Packaging.  You would think this would be a breeze for me with the word DELIGHTFUL in it!! Not so..  However, here is my project:

I totally messed up on this bag because I glued down the top folded chevron piece first, I should have put the card stock down first and built on it, I think the proportions and layers would have been more eye-pleasing.  Personally, I think it looks too top heavy.  But after the gift is given, what happens to the bag.... it will probably be tossed...so, that's that!

I found a cool tutorial by Julia Stainton to make the folded chevron. The link is HERE.  She uses a length of paper that is 12x2 (for scrapbooking) and I used 6x2, so I made 2 of them and pieced them together and tried to cleverly hid the seam.  I've alternated the sentiment colors and here is the list of inks I've used:
Memento Inks: Love Letters, Pistachio, Tuxedo Black; Ranger Archival Ink: Chrome Yellow, Aquamarine. TE Die, Take Note 3 (I've stamped off the pinwheel stamp and then put the sentiment over the background and added a bow, popped it up with dimensionals.

All the paper is from the kit and the stamp set is the Delightful Day set that was a special release available only to kit subscribers and at 50% off!!  I jumped right on that one! What a bargain!!

I didn't really need to add this picture but it really showed up the Stickles on the pinwheels, Ranger Liquid Pearls were used in the center.  The solid looking paper is paper pieced onto the pinwheel.
Here is a picture of the stamp set:

Well, just want to say thanks for stopping by and commenting, have a terrific week!!

The LORD lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.  Numbers 6:26
