It's Been One of Those Days!

Welcome and thanks for visiting!!

The challenge this week at Christian Paper Craft Magazine http://www.cpcmag.com/ (Color Monday) is to use all white or all ivory on your creation and you could use a little bit of an accent color. I tried to use a crystal glitter embossing powder but you couldn't even see it without tilted it towards the light so I chose the gold embossing instead. This is the first time I've actually used embossing on anything. I've been practicing a little bit on scraps of paper so I'm encouraged I'm getting at least a little better!

My paper is Making Memories Pearl Swirl I Do and Wedding by Bazzill. I used a decorative corner punch and a corner rounder from EK Success, the gold bow is from some heavy gage metallic thread I had and the stamp is one I've had for a couple of years and I'm not sure who made it. I used Versamark ink and Ranger Gold Embossing power. I've also embellished at the bottom corner with Stickles "icicles" (three dots).

Here is my sample for this weeks sketch (as well as the above card) from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog http://www.sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/. ( SSS05 )

This is also one of the baby announcements I'm making for my daughter. The cardstock is Paper Accents, white, pattern paper is MM Designs, Inc; the stamp is Tickled Pink from Unity Stamp Company; I used a Prismacolor Watercolor pencil Rose Deco; StazOn Jet Black Ink; Andirondak Pink Sherbert Dabber (around the white scallop and sentiment), Wild Plum Dabber accent color on the stroller/buggy; Creative Charms pearls; Dotted Swiss Cuddlebug folder; Marvy Uchida Scallop Oval punch.

It's been a long day! If you read yesterdays post you know that Jake spent the night with us. He was feeling a little bit warm before he went to bed and by the middle of the night had a full blown fever, he and I were up from 1:30am to 3a.m. Morning came very early (6:30am) and he proceeded to vomited once in his bed and once on me (lovely - usually I'm a sympathy vomiter but I did not join in this time (thank you, Lord!). Needless to say I did not make it to the Morning Bible Study and I had to call someone to take over for me. We were just finishing up a DVD series so there really wasn't any prep work, again I praise the Lord! Now all of this wouldn't be too terribly bad, but I had to be to work at 2p.m. and I had plans to take Jakob over to his Gee-gee's (that's my mom, his great grandma). Fortunately she was able to come over to my house since he was napping and I expected him to sleep for about 3 hours, that is until the fire alarm went off.... mercy! what a day! Again I have to thank the Lord, Jakob woke up in a good mood asking about the fire truck "helping people" is that not cute! He ate lunch, kept it to himself and was a delight (although feverish). His momma is keeping him tonight so that I can get a good night sleep before he comes at 6:15am (ugh... I'm not a morning person!) and we start the day all over! I think (I know) I could use your prayers!!

This is my "cuddle-bug!"

A Little bit of Creativity happened today...

Thanks for visiting, hope you'll leave a comment!

(Don't forget to check out the Taco Soup recipe on Thursdays post!)

Hooray it's the weekend! It's officially after 5p.m. on the west coast.
Of course that doesn't mean much to me. My weekends are probably more busy than my week! Nevertheless, I've enjoyed my day. I think the Lord knew I needed a little time to be creative!!
So inbetween the laundry, mopping, cleaning the bathroom ect., I got to spend some time in my craft room! I'm so thankful!!

Can't wait to get my pictures developed from the last post. I'm itchin' to get back to scrapbooking. I've taken a little break but have kept the creative juices flowing by cardmaking and trying new techniques, some successful, some not so successful! Ugh!! or should I say ugly!!
Here are the cards I made today. This one is inspired by a sketch from Korin over at The Sweet Shop (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps ) http://www.sweetshopsketches.blogspot.com/ originally it was to be a masculine card, which I did in an earlier post, this one is all feminine with a Scripture from the New Testament which I will post over at the Christian Paper Crafts Magazine site (http://www.cpcmag.com/), later this evening.

Romans 12:12

(the pattern paper is from DCWV Sweet Stack, stamp is SU!, ink: Stazon; Pink Sherbert Dabber, Adirondack; pearls : Creative Charms; Punches, Marvy Uchida)

The second card is a Clean & Simple design, super fast, super easy!

Pattern paper is also from DCWV. Brown cardstock, Paper Accents, buttons from Basic Grey Two Scoops; Punch: Marvy Uchida; Zig Pen for writing the Scripture, my handwriting and the stitch marks; Aqua Dabber (around verse), Adirondack.
This last one I made is a Father's Day card that I was inspired by something I saw at the Paper Wishes website using a folder.

The pattern paper is Basic Grey (Archaic line), eyelets Making Memories, Stamps: Inkadinkadoo, tag & cardstock: Paper Accents; ink: Ranger Aged Mahogany Distress Ink (inking edges) after distressing using Heidi Swapp Distresser; Color Box, dk brown for stamping.

(please excuse the shadows)

Thanks again for visiting and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Afternoon at Perigot Park

Hello and thanks for visiting today!

Contemplating his next move... the slide!

What a big boy!

I just had to share about Jakob and I going to the park. He had so much fun! It was a beautiful day for a walk so we managed to head over to the park before his nap and had a very fun time! I love this little guy! What a blessing he is and he is about to become a big brother in about 3 weeks! Can't wait for baby girl still don't have a name although the middle name is Ann we do know that much. Kelly and Ray are still undecided but are kind of leaning towards Addyson (Addy) and I'm not sure about the spelling on that either!

Is he not the cutest?? Sometimes his pictures look so serious but he is so funny and loves to entertain (and be entertained!! )

Here is my card for this weeks challenge (masculine, no frills)
Please don't call this card cute. I will be forced to do something drastic!
Such as give up cardmaking. Well, maybe the sentiment is kinda cute... and actually it's much cuter in person! I really need a new camera...seriously :-(

Never say never...

Jakob and Riley having fun with Tater (Riley's dog)
Playing in the backyard with a ball almost as big as Riley!

We had a beautiful weekend! Spring is here, YES! We had a fun evening over at our daughter Kelly's home last night, all my kids and grandbabies were in attendance! And I have to give myself a little shout out 'cause I kicked bootie at the bowling! I bowled a 210! Whoo-hoo! It was on the Wii, yes, the guys let us play between their football & fishing games. I think that has got to be the weirdest name! I hate even saying it because it sounds so dumb, "I was playing Wii" you've got to agree that it just doesn't sound right!

We (meaning my son and son-in-law) moved Amy (at least all of her belongings) back here on Saturday morning but she will be staying in Chico for two more weeks and then will be officially back in Humboldt County! Yippee!! To be honest she's not all that excited about the move back "home" but that's where the job is so I'm praying she will adjust and perhaps realize that it is good to be close to family. (She's moving into Gramma's huge attic) She's been away for 12 years! This mama couldn't be happier! And we told her "never say never" but I resist saying "I told you so" :-)

A couple more cute pictures of the little ones...

Poppin' Pastels

Hello and thanks for stopping by I've been blogging like crazy, making up for lost time I guess, just lots to share, hope you'll take time to read the last few posts.

Hey it's Saturday and I'm looking forward to spending time with my family this afternoon and evening!! Get to love on the grandbabies :-) They are such a blessing.

Well, I learned a new technique this week!! I'm excited, it's probably old hat to most of y'all but I had fun with it. I used Ranger's Perfect Medium and EK Success chalk for the stamp effect on each square.

The flower stamps are from Technique Tuesday and the Sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo. Pattern paper is one of my favorites, Fancy Pants! I used Bazzill cardstock and Andirondack Dabber pink sherbert was used to color the edges of the 1-1/2 inch squares. This was from the "New To You Wednesdays at www.cpcmag.com (WTYW05 - POPPIN' PASTELS)

Have a super excellent day!

Following after...

Well Friday is here!! It's been a quick week. A busy week :-) and I praise the Lord I'm active and healthy to be able to participate in the activities of every day life! God is so good to me. So many are not able to get out of their bed today whether it's a physical problem or perhaps suffering from depression. My own son-in-law's father is lying in ICU after having a quadruple bypass and part of his aorta rebuilt (he suffered a heart attack Monday night) and wasn't given much chance to survive. BUT, surgery was Wednesday a.m. and he is still here, we believe in the God of miracles and my prayer has been that he would not leave this earth without another opportunity to receive Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. I serve a God who doesn't pay attention to man's negative reports, aren't you blessed to know that!
In my Bible Study today I was challenged or probably better said, I was convicted by something that I've been battling as long as I've been a Christian. This is my struggle (one of many): sometimes what I want may seem all about God, but oftentimes God reveals to me my true motive of self centeredness. Not a very pretty picture, and not a real glowing report about myself. Even though I may not like to think I'm self-centered more times than not, I am. I believe that is why it's so important to evaluate our own walk with Christ. ("work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" Philippians 2:12) God looks straight into this pitiful, deceptive heart of mine and exposes that tendency to be self seeking and I praise Him for loving me enough to correct me and not let me stay in this state.
The purpose for evaluating our walk is so that we can be empowered by the Holy Spirit to repent and overcome this sin of pride (yes, pride) and as we identify this subtle or not so subtle area, the Lord begins His restoration work. For me it's been a long process... ugh! But I'm hoping and praying that the occurances will be fewer. I want the mind of Christ, I want to as 1 Tim 6:11 states to, "follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness."
Have a wonderful weekend and please, count your blessings!

Hi and thanks for visiting!

I found a teeny, tiny bit of creativity inbetween Jakob's nap, fixing dinner and after Bible Study and I managed to finish this card for the Christian Paper Crafts Magazine Thursday Bible Verse challenge. Better know as the CPCM BVT05! The challenge was of course to make a card (as if you didn't know...) using black, tan & aqua colors only and a Scripture.

My friend and co-worker, Marcie let me borrow some older Scripture stamps for my Sunday School class so I used the Phil. 4:13 stamp for the card. (Thanks Marcie!) They may be from Stamping Up! but I'm not sure. The ink is StazOn Jet Black. I used DCWV "Nana's Nursery Baby Boy" line for the pattern paper, Paper Accents cardstock, a chipboard swirl (from my stash!) which I painted aqua (Andirondack Dabber), then sanded to let the tan color show through. I added pearls from Creative Charms for a little "bling" on the swirl. This card is a pretty simple design, which made it quick and easy.
On a personal note....
The weekend is coming up quick, it looks like it will be a busy one! Usually I have Fridays to run errands (alone) but I will have Jakob in tow due to his daddy and Uncle Sean heading to Chico to help oldest daughter Amy with her move back here. Amy is moving most of her stuff back here on Saturday to put in storage. Lots of activity on Saturday besides the "fun" job of unloading the UHaul (ha!), youngest daughter Kelly will be having her 2nd fetal stress test (and not helping with the UHaul!) This will be happening every Wednesday & Saturday until the birth of baby girl in June. Hopefully, baby girl will be cooperative so Kelly doesn't have to stay too long at the hospital each time. We are heading into countdown time c-section is scheduled for June 15th. Sometime during Saturday I have the fun chore of making a Dutch Apple Pie for Amy's friend Paul, it's a belated birthday gift and she promised one to him and somehow I got roped into making it (hmmmm....) So... those are the extras that are happening on top of all the regular stuff I need to do. I'm trying very hard not to be too exhausted before even starting my day!!! Lord, give me strength! I'm just praising the Lord that all my kids will be back close to home. It's been too long (12 years) since we all lived in the same county! That has energized me for sure! I'm one happy mamma!

It's lost...

Somewhere in there... on THAT table is my creativity. Can you see it? Me either... So I guess I'll be spending the next hour looking for it 'cause I sure seemed to have misplaced it, I know it's right in front of me but I just can't seem to grasp it. I can't even "think" to write anything amusing or clever. AHHHH!! I'm overwhelmed with clutter in my craft room. Don't think I'll be back this evening anytime soom :-(

Something has happened to my blog!! All my writing on the last entry is teeny tiny and you can't read it!! AHHHHH! I got to go to work will have to figure it out tonight!

Well tonight has come and I haven't been able to figure out why my last blog entry has teeny tiny font. No matter what I do it won't change to the normal settings, so I've deleted most of the pictures and will add them to my next post. Weird, huh?

Baby Shower gift

Hi and thanks for coming by for a visit!

I'm having a difficult time writing anything tonight. I'm really tired. What a busy weekend and I didn't get my Sunday afternoon nap to get me prepared for the busy week! But I did want to post some pics from the weekend. I finished the baby shower gift, a mini purse album (just in the nick of time!).

Here's the diaper cake I made for the shower, it took 107 diapers, rolled and rubber banded! It was fun and definitely worth the work.
