Simple Blessings.... Did you miss me?

Did you miss me?? I missed you all!
I'm not sure where this week has gone but it's already Thursday and I haven't posted for a WEEK!! My goodness, I guess I've been busy. Our friend and evangelist/pastor was staying with us and ministering at our church for 3 nights and so we were pretty much caught up in that, which was a good thing for sure!! We always have a great time with Darrell. He is usually over at the church all morning and then we head to the 2nd hand bookstores (he loves the old commentaries of the Bible as well as a lot of classical writings) he has 2 favorite places to check out in town and after that we go to lunch for some Chinese food, yum!! I feel just a little tiny bit guilty because dh has to work at the mill during the day, pastor the other hours of the day and night and I get to hang out with the "young" man of God and have lunch! Oh the perks of being the pastor's wife ;-) We did however grab dh some lunch and take it out to him on his lunch break.
Well, since it's already Thursday (12:03 am) I will post the Christian Paper Crafts Color Monday Challenge from Jen:
Shades of brown & Pink + white (Optional shade of green - just in case you want to use flowers )When uploading to our gallery, please use keyword CM45 and when uploading to your blog or other online galleries, please use keyword CPC-CM45.
AND
Here is Sketch Tuesday from Gloria:

CPC-ST45

Isn't this the cutest sketch, too bad I didn't follow it exactly!! Ooops and as we say at Christian Paper Crafts: "No worries, there are no challenge police" thank goodness for that!!

The sketch however was a great inspiration
and it got me out of my creative slump! Thanks Gloria!!

Here is the close up of my flower. Everywhere I look I keep finding handmade flowers so I jumped carefully onto the band wagon and this is what I got! Very simple: I used my large blossom punch (Marvy Uchida) punched out 4 blossom from regular printing paper, dabbed them with distress ink on both sides, I used Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick (I love those two together!) folded them every which way and then using my cropadile I punched a hole in the center. Added this custom brad (it originally was pink with white polka dots (Bazzill) that did not match my colors! So I used my Copics (E37)to color it and then added Glossy Accents and then a button!) Easy peasy! Another easy project was the leaves. Stamped them with a UNITY stamp on green paper using Coffee colored Archival Ink and then using my Copic (YG11) I colored the stamped image, cut them out and adhered to the card.

Here is a side view so you can see the dimension.

Pretty easy card, I used both the challenges and I'm a happy gal!! Here is the list of the ingredients not mentioned.

Paper: Pink Paislee (DP) Bazzill cardstock;

Stamps: Unity Stamp Co (this is a Thanksgiving stamp but you can see how versatile it can be!

Embellishments: Ribbon and buttons (from my stash)

Technique: Paper piecing, handmade flowers.
Ok my dear friends I'm falling asleep at the computer so I'll say good night and I hope to post something else tomorrow for Bible Verse Thursday..... stay tuned!!
PS hope there aren't too many typos... I'm not reading it again!!

New challenges in more ways than one this week (but we won't go into all that!!!) Our fun challenges over at Christian Paper Crafts are the ones we are going to focus on today. I'm so excited I even got to play!!! Our weekly color challenge from Jen is a great one and it really is getting me thinking about Spring!!

Here are Jen's words to us about the challenge: "I'm in the mood to celebrate some of the bright colors God has given us! This week: any shade of the following: turquoise, orange + white (Optional: any shade of green... just in case you'd like to stamp some wonderfully bright flowers!)" When uploading to our gallery at Christian Paper Crafts, please use keyword CM44 and when uploading to your blog or other online galleries, please use keyword CPC-CM44. Here is a link to the CM44 gallery.

And for our Sketch Challenge, Gloria rocks in her creative sketch this week!!

CPC-ST44 (isn't this a fun one!!)

I combined both challenges in my card and tried real hard to make it CAS. I'm late for work so I need to run and I'll be back tonight to put in the recipe for the card!!

Happy Valentines Day

Hi and Happy Valentines Day to you all! Hope you have a sweet day!!

Here are four cards I made using a heart pocket for our Fun on Friday at Christian Paper Crafts. The little girls in my Sunday School class will be getting them. Each is a little different, which reminds me that each of us are unique yet beautiful in our Father's eyes. Have you had a sweet moment with the Lord today? If you haven't, what's stopping you? Perhaps it's time to think about eternal things. If you've not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior I think today would be a wonderful day to consider this! I sure hope you'll give Him your heart today! He has a love that surpasses any other, it is unconditional and so much better than chocolate, flowers or a card, it lasts forever!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

This Weeks Challenges at Christian Paper Crafts!

Hello friends!

I've been slacking this week (sort of!) at least in the creative sense! However, I do have a newly organized and clean craft room!! AND the guest room is nearly done, just needs the baseboards, painting the closet and a few paint touch ups to be done. I put the second coat of paint on the last wall that needed it. ( I did that for hubby so he could move on to something else in there) It will be a while before we do anything about the floors but it's looking good. I have been working my fingers to the bone today getting all the dust and tools out of the way and I've even gotten the walls decorated!! Whoo-hoo!! Just in time for our guest to arrive on Monday!

Well, I said all that so that you would be understanding why I've not posted this weeks challenges at Christian Paper Crafts but here are the three for this week so far:

Color Monday: light green, peach, pink & white (When uploading to our gallery at CPC, please use keyword CM43 and when uploading to your blog or other online galleries, please use keyword CPC-CM43.) Be sure and check out Jen's adorable card Here

Sketch Tuesday: Here is Gloria's fabulous sketch for this week (CPC ST 43)

Bible Verse Thursday: Angella has a gorgeous card HERE
This week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge is "Do Not Worry"!! There are many verses about this subject.....grab your concordance or head over to Biblegateway.com or blueletterbible.com to find a verse for your project. When uploading to our gallery here at CPC, use Keyword BVT41. If uploading to any other online galleries, please use CPC-BVT41 there.

There are no time limits and most definitely no challenge police! Have fun and glorify our Lord through your work!!!

Well, I can't wait to play (glad there are no time limits!) but first I've got to head over to Bible Study, we are in the Book of Jeremiah and it starts in less than an hour so I'd best get myself ready!! Have a great evening.

PS. I attended a Copics class last night!! I'm excited to share but I've got to run!!

A Belated Blog Anniversary!

You are going to think me nuts but I just realized I've been blogging for about one year. I was curious to see what the date of my first post was and to my surprise it was February 5th, 2009. Happy Anniversary to me, one day late!! How weird is that? I should have been paying attention and had some sort of giveaway to celebrate. Well, I'll keep thinking about that one and maybe I'll have an end of the month giveaway!! I'm fairly new so I don't have a lot of extra stuff but I'll see what I can come up with! I just want to thank you for following and reading my ramblings and making such sweet comments about my projects!! I'm blessed!

Thank you to my followers.... (this pic isn't the greatest, those buttons go perfectly with the blending or the four ink colors, but they look really dark in the pic. I think the battery was low when I took this a couple of days ago.

I have something even better than an anniversary to celebrate! I got my craft room rearranged and cleaned!! (the twin bed is outta here!!) This is incredible, I can walk in here now!! Whoo-hoo!! I still have a little more organizing to do with my scrap papers but I've made labels for the folders to make it nice and neat. I have labels for: cardstock, florals, winter, spring, summer, fall, kids and holidays. Can you think of others? I've got hanging folders to put them into. Hubby is making me something for my spools of ribbon that are to big for my jars. And hopefully I'll incorporate some of my smaller punches on that too. I have a place for my Cricut and Cuttlebug and now I need to figure out a spot for the sewing machine. Hmmmm..... I forgot about that until just now. I do have a spot under the window that could be perfect! We will see! Well, I'm off to Costco and then to a baby shower for my great nephew who was born on Christmas day, they are down here to meet all the family!! Can't wait.... Have a blessed day!

Love Ya, Mojo Monday!

Hello friends!!

Here is my card for Mojo Monday, (MOJO124) this is a great sketch and if you have a chance, be sure to check out the site because there are some very talented ladies on the Design Team. I think this is the first time I've ever played along. But I chose a great week, the first week of the month is prize week. That's exciting! I would love to win a set of Verve stamps! I've been browsing (or stalking!) the Verve Blog site for some time (and drooling over all the great stuff) and also seeing other cardmakers projects on personal blogs as well as the Christian Paper Crafts gallery and let me just say, they are fabulous stamps! Wow, I'm going to say it again, I would love to win a set of my choice! (don't know how I'd decide though, so many styles to choose from)!!

Well, I've got to get off the computer, we just had a 6.0 earthquake and it's was not as big as the last one, but still a good shake. I'm sure people are still a little unnerved from the January 9th shake. The wind is just a howling today, need to get things prepared in case the power goes out.(which it just did and I had to jump back on real quick to post and now I'm going off again!!) Have a wonderful day and be safe out there!! I'm so glad I have the Lord, He just takes the fear away! Praise the Lord.

Edited: I'm back on briefly to add the ingredients to the card!!

Paper: American Crafts and Bazzill Cardstock; Stamps: Unity (sentiment); BoBunny (tree); Inkadinkadoo, (tiny hearts, stamped then cut out)Inks: Archival, coffee; Distress inks for blending: Antique linen and worn lipstick; Embellies: Buttons, Making Memories; Ribbon (dotted) American Crafts; light pink from Michaels; Tools: EK Success: corner rounder and border punch; Marvy Uchida: scallop circle punch.

Two Challenges this Week (so far...)

Hello friends!!
I've had a very busy day!! Started off with a great Bible Study in the Book of Daniel (Beth Moore DVD series) she is such a gifted teacher! We are in week three and my Ladies group here really enjoyed this weeks lesson and we had a terrific discussion afterwards, I LOVE THAT!! So much input, you know they are listening and really "hearing!"

After that I came home and began the "fun" work of cleaning the house (I didn't put a dent in it, well maybe a little one) after the remodeling and updating going on here, there is dust and tools and tools and dust all over the place, it's beginning to wear me down!! (just kidding, I just hide in my craft room, which is part of the problem, if I'd clean instead of hide out I probably wouldn't feel so overwhelmed! Well, today was a good start! Then came dinner and now I'm in front of the computer, nothin like stating the obvious!) I worked on two of the cards I had done last night that I just didn't like, well, I'm still not thrilled with them but with a little adjusting and adding I'm not too embarrassed to post them. They are for our color and sketch challenge at Christian Paper Crafts this week. So without any more excuses here they are: (I guess you'd like to know what the challenges are ... silly me!)
Color Monday: Everything goes with Chocolate. So today it's chocolate, 2 shades of pink, any shade of orange + white or cream. When uploading to our CPC gallery, please use keyword CM42 and when uploading to your blog or other online galleries, please use keyword CPC-CM42.
CPC CM42

My list of supplies are at the end of the post. One technique I'd like to share is that I cut out two of the butterflies and added Glossy Accents (Ranger)and then added some pop up squares to add some dimension. I also added some of the Glossy Accents to the "SPRING" you can see the shine. The curved line is part of the Pink Paislee paper that was a diecut I trimmed it too fit because what I originally had in mind didn't work!! Lemonade from lemons :-)

Next is our fabulous SKETCH TUESDAY Challenge:

Here is my take on the sketch! I also incorporated the colors from Mondays challenge.

CPC ST42

So sweet of you to visit, thanks for looking!! Have a blessed day!
One more thing... my sweet little grandson Jakob loves to call me on the phone. Tonight when he called he told me he went to a basketball game with Mimi (Aunt Amy) so he told me all about it and then he said "I love you, grammie" and then told his mom, "I'm done" and handed her the phone!! He is so cute!! Yesterday he called me on my cell phone while I was at work cause he wanted to "leave Grammie a message." It's so nice to know he is thinking of me. I love you Jakob!! My almost three year old little sweetheart!
