Faith in God - Word Art Wednesday

Hello Delightful friends and family,
Wow, time is just flying by!  I cannot believe it's already the first week in October.  It's been an extremely busy time in our home, family and church and I can't believe I haven't even posted my pictures from our weekend getaway in early September.  We were blessed to get away for a couple of days into the city to watch a couple of SF Giants games and just have a little (emphasis on little) R&R.  Perhaps one of these days I'll get those posted.  In the meantime, here is a small 5x7 canvas that I've done.  I've been experimenting with some different mixed medias and here is the latest.  I'm entering this in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge (#48)

I've used fall colors and the greens aren't showing up as much as they do in person.  The words are a piece of patterned paper that I've Gesso'd and then just experimented with Ranger Dylusions Spray ink, acrylic paints and Perfect Pearls.  I hand drew the letters and then cut them out, adhered them with Mod Podge and then with a black Sharpie pen (fine tip) outlined each one on the canvas.  I used a stencil for the design in the corner and most of the paint was applied with my fingers and the edge of a piece of card stock, very primitive as you can see.  But I like it.
I was inspired by the Proverb 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."  I've also been thinking a lot about the word "Faith" and so many people say they have faith but it is usually faith in their faith, rather than faith in God.  We must learn to trust the Lord and know that He sees the bigger picture and knows what is best for His own.  We have a purpose in this life and it's to glorify God and by trusting Him with our life does take faith.  It takes faith  in knowing Him to be good and merciful.  It's not about us being entitled and deserving because what we do deserve, fortunately, He does not give us, if you know what I mean?!

Here is the close up of the "eggshell" mosiac leaves.  These are diecuts using chipboard and the Tim Holtz Alterations Movers and Shapers Mini Tattered Leaves set. To add color I've used a combination of colors from the Ranger Alcohol inks, Perfect Pearls (gold) and Glossy Accents.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:8-10

Thanks so much for visiting and have a blessed weekend!

  2. What Karen said. I was going to say that I don't comment a lot as I'm very bad about that but I do love coming here daily to see what you're up to and to absorb those nuggets you toss out at us. You are a true blessing and encouragement. Hugs and love you.
