Pinwheel Gift Bag - Key Ingredient Delightful Challenge!

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!
I'm sharing a white gift bag I've customized for this months Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Blog Hop Challenge.  The challenge (which I definitely felt it a challenge!! oy!) is Delightful Packaging.  You would think this would be a breeze for me with the word DELIGHTFUL in it!! Not so..  However, here is my project:

I totally messed up on this bag because I glued down the top folded chevron piece first, I should have put the card stock down first and built on it, I think the proportions and layers would have been more eye-pleasing.  Personally, I think it looks too top heavy.  But after the gift is given, what happens to the bag.... it will probably be tossed...so, that's that!

I found a cool tutorial by Julia Stainton to make the folded chevron. The link is HERE.  She uses a length of paper that is 12x2 (for scrapbooking) and I used 6x2, so I made 2 of them and pieced them together and tried to cleverly hid the seam.  I've alternated the sentiment colors and here is the list of inks I've used:
Memento Inks: Love Letters, Pistachio, Tuxedo Black; Ranger Archival Ink: Chrome Yellow, Aquamarine. TE Die, Take Note 3 (I've stamped off the pinwheel stamp and then put the sentiment over the background and added a bow, popped it up with dimensionals.

All the paper is from the kit and the stamp set is the Delightful Day set that was a special release available only to kit subscribers and at 50% off!!  I jumped right on that one! What a bargain!!

I didn't really need to add this picture but it really showed up the Stickles on the pinwheels, Ranger Liquid Pearls were used in the center.  The solid looking paper is paper pieced onto the pinwheel.
Here is a picture of the stamp set:

Well, just want to say thanks for stopping by and commenting, have a terrific week!!

  1. I didn't look at your bag and think, "Wow, that is one top heavy bag!" I thought,"I really like the sentiment placed at the bottom of that band." We are our own worst critics! :) Now I have to check out the chevron tutorial.

  2. I couldn't find your cleverly hidden seam the first time. See, it was cleverly hidden! After watching the tutorial I came back to find it. Once I understood how the folds worked I knew what to look for. :) Thanks for sharing the link.
