Two Sketch Challenges!

Hello Friends and happy weekend to you!!
Here are some more challenges to share!
The first one is from Waltzingmouse here is Claire's sketch challenge:

The prize is huge--one of each of the 8 sets being released this Saturday (May 1)! This is a new site that I've been seeing referred to by other blogs and it's really a cute site, you should check it out. The owner of the online store Waltzing Mouse Stamps is Claire Brennan and she is in northern Ireland.
Here is my take on the sketch and it is also for a challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Randi (a dear sister in Christ and cyber friend is the hostess this week and her challenge is to make a Mother's Day card, so this is mine from Proverbs 31. (SSCC#36)

Ingredients: Paper: BoBunny and Bazzill; Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs; Ink: Palette, black; Distress Ink, Dusty concord; Buttons are from Foof a La. The scallop circle punch, Marvy Uchida. Ribbon is from my stash! I also used a corner rounder from EK Success to round the corners of the pattern paper.

My second card is for the Unity birthday celebration. The challenge is actually two in one card. The first was to use the first stamp you ever purchased from Unity and the other was the Hip Hop Sketch Challenge 05 (HHSCo5). My first stamp I ever used from Unity was one I had seen Patter Cross use on her blog and fell in love with it. It is called Almighty God. I embossed the stamp using clear embossing powder from Ranger and a VersaMark watermark pad. I did this on a piece of Neenah cardstock that I had cut out in the circle shape. After embossing, I used the Distress ink, Dusty concord and the blending tool from Ranger to blend the ink over the clear embossing. Then I used the Heidi Swapp edge distresser to rough up the edges. My pattern paper is from BoBunny, the card base is Bazzill cardstock. The border punch I used is from Martha Stewart. Here is my take on the sketch and my first Unity stamp!

Well, that's it for tonight (for you on the east coast it's already Saturday, the wee hours of it!) I'm in California it's late but it's still Friday for another forty-five minutes anyway!! Have a great weekend and enjoy National Scrapbook Day!!

Thanks for visiting and God bless, see you over at Christian Paper Crafts!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Unity Stamp Co.

I've had fun the last couple of days checking out the Unity Stamp Company's 2nd birthday celebration! This first card "Thinking of You" (Sending my Love stamp set) is day four challenge "TRIPLE TAKE" (USCAC4) be sure and check out their blog to get the details! I finally stitched a card for the very first time! Not too happy with the way it turned out, I need to adjust the tension (or something!!) but it is what it is!! It is also our FUN ON FRIDAY (CPC FOF51)challenge at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS, where Cindy has issued our challenge to have something to do with sewing!! I've used DCWV pattern paper (Cafe Mediterranean stack) and Paper Accents cardstock. The cute crochet flower is from American Crafts and the bling is from BoBunny. The ribbon is from a Michaels sale! I've used Label One Nestabilities and EK Success corner rounder (inside of card). The inks were black Palette and Antique Linen Distress ink.

(CPC fof51, USCAC4)

(inside of the card)

My second card is actually 3 challenges! The sketch is from my pal Gloria at Christian Paper Crafts (CPC ST54) and this weeks color challenge was to use orange in celebrating Jen (aka Miss Boo's birthday) CPC-CM54 and the third challenge is from the Unity celebration to use a bird or a tree (USCAC2). So I used an owl from "Owl Always Love You" set. I colored the owl with Copics E37, E33 and E00. The paper is Basic Grey "Sugar Rush" which is double sided. Ribbon is from American Crafts, the brad is from Sassafras, and the button from Foof a La bag o'buttons. Ink : Palette, black. Cardstock is Bazzill.

CPC-CM54, CPC-ST54, USCAC2

Inside of the card: I used the smaller owl in the set on cardstock with black ink, Palette and Label One Nestabilities. I used the double-sided Basic Grey paper to finish off the inside.

I'm working on a couple more challenges and I plan to post them later on today or possibly tomorrow. Have a fantastic day and Happy Birthday to Unity Stamp Co.!

Fun challenges but so much more!

Hi all,

I've been out of town and then under the weather a bit so please forgive my lateness in posting these fantastic challenges that you can find at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS. There is no time limit on playing but huge inspiration to help you get your creative juices flowing!!
Just want to mention that at Christian Paper Crafts we have a lot going on over there and I'd encourage you to check us out if you haven't already! There is a Devotional posted a couple times a week by Marcelle called "Daily Bread" you will be blessed and encouraged as you read and gain from her insights! Also we have Journaling Prompts from Lynn to help you keep a Faith journal. On Wednesdays a very cool giveaway just for commenting, Cassandra makes some fantastic distressed/vintage tags that she gives away weekly called Altered For Him Wednesdays! On Mondays I post our Bible study and we are in the Gospel of John. Hope you'll take time to visit!!

Here is this weeks color challenge for Jen (aka Miss Boo):

Ladybugs are not required on this challenge, although you can use them if you'd like.
We're using their colors: red, black, & white (be sure and use the keywords CPC-CM52 if you upload in a gallery or your blog!) Isn't that a fun color combo!

Our fabulous Sketch Tuesday (CPC-ST52) from Gloria Stengel:

Bible Verse Thursday from Angella is pretty and feminine (CPC-BVT50)! The challenge theme is "She".....use any verse about a woman or women, plus any project design you like. Perfect chance to get started on those Mother's Day cards.

Fun on Friday with Cindy will really challenge you (CPC-FOF49)!! You are to make something humorous or funny. Whatever you consider humorous is what counts. After all, God definitely has a sense of humor...He created us! All of our challenges are for all paper crafters, not just cards. We'd love to have you join us today for some fun. There's no challenge police or time limits. We just want to get you crafting for His glory.

If you are a Scrapbooker we even have a weekly challenge for you on Saturdays. Mary chooses a Scripture to use as a theme to scrapbook each Saturday so be sure and check that out at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS!!

And last but not least we have "CASE" ARTIST SATURDAY(copy and share everything) this is where someone in our gallery will be featured and we use inspiration from their projects to create something.

Happy Birthday! More challenges...

Just want to say Happy Birthday to my sweet husband, Kerry!! We're getting ready to go have dinner with all the kids and grandkids at my mom's house. Our oldest daughter has been planning this for at least a month. We almost weren't able to pull it off due to the weather and trying to get crab this time of the year can be iffy, but we did it (shhhh! don't tell Kerry, he doesn't have a clue).

In the meantime, I thought I'd post a card I made this morning. I was inspired by the Taylor Expression Sketch #107 and the Stamp Something challenge today is PINK SOMETHING and I was able to incorporate two other challenges, Stampin' Sister's in Christ Tole Paper Challenge (SSCC #32) and Our Daily Bread Designs Monochromatic challenge (SNTODBD6). Hope you like my card!

Here are my ingredients:

Stamp: Our Daily Bread Designs (sentiment) Hero Arts (butterfly)

Ink: Palette, black

Paper: Basic Grey; Paper Accents (black cardstock)

Embellishments: Buttons (Bo Bunny and American Crafts)

Tools: Martha Stewart, Border punch; EK Success, corner rounder; Marvy Uchida, scallop circle punch; Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Well, thanks for looking I'm heading out to eat some yummy dinner!! Crab, tri-tip steak, potatoes, artichokes, salad, corn on the cob (who knows what else! It will be a feast to celebrate a much loved daddy's birthday!)

I promise moderation will be on the menu, too!

A Challenge from SSCC, Lessons from the Eagle

Hello! I guess I'm on a roll this week with the cards! Tonight I'm posting a card from the challenge blog of the Stampin' Sister's in Christ.
I haven't joined in one of their challenges in awhile (I'm sorry to say!) they have a terrifice DT and some incredible inspiration over their so be sure and check them out. This week Kristine has the challenge duties and here is what she wrote:

"SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

As I reflect on this verse, I find it very comforting. We all are hit at one time or another by sickness, disappointment, failure, and tragedy... but this verse assures us that if we put our faith and hope in Jesus Christ, He will give us the strength we need to go on and ride out the storm. I read once that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it hits. The eagle will fly to a high spot and wait for the winds to come, and when they do, the eagle sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. The eagle does not escape the storm, it simply uses the storm to lift it higher and soar above it. We too can rise above the storms that life brings by setting our hearts on God. He has bigger plans for us than we can see for ourselves, so put your hope in Him--He will take you to new heights!

CHALLENGE: and so my challenge is for you to "mount up" parts of your image, aka. Paper Tole technique. This is not simply paper piecing an image, but rather restamping your image 2 or more times and cutting out parts of that image to pop it up and make it 3-dimensional. There are good tutorials here and here and here."

Our Daily Bread Designs is the sponsor this month and a $15 gift certificate is the prize to be won!! Love their stamps!

( SSCC32)

Here is a view of how the card is 3-dimensional.

Here are the ingredients to the card:
Paper: DCWV (The Cafe Mediterranean); Paper Accents, cardstock
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs, (sentiment); Hero Arts (butterfly)
Ink: Palette, black; Archival, coffee; Copics (B12, B18, YG11, YG67, E37)
Embellishments: Ribbon (dollar store find in the wedding supplies!); Adirondack, Dimensional pearls-color: bottle; Ranger, Stickles - icicle; Perfect Pearls, pearl.
Tools: Nestabilities, Label One
Thanks for looking and God bless you!!

Color Me, Robin's Egg Blue!

Hello again!

Wow, I don't blog for 10 days and now I've blogged two days in a row!

Be sure and check out Christian Paper Crafts Bible Verse Thursday. Angella has a great challenge and a beautiful card to show us!! Can't wait for you to see her card!! The challenge is to use a Scripture from the book of Proverbs.

I also found a challenge that I thought would be fun to try along with Bible Verse Thursday, so here is the blog you need to check out Creative Belli Blog

Challenge #88 - COLOR SPRAY - this can be a home made mixture, Glimmer Mists, Walnut Ink sprays, a bottle filled with hairspray, reinker, and Pearl Ex, or even airbrushing with your Copic markers - whatever you desire!
I just happen to have a few Glimmer Mists so I got excited!! (tee-hee)

Here's my card (CBC88) I sprayed the already pretty blue cardstock from Bazzill with the Robin's Egg Blue Glimmer Mist to add a bit of sheen before adding the Basic Grey (Urban Prairie) paper.

Here is a close-up.

You can see where I used a stencil then sprayed the Robin's Egg Blue Glimmer Mist on the white cardstock. Then I stamped the Scripture (Stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs - Scripture Collection #4)

Here's the recipe to my card (items I haven't already mentioned!)
Ink: Palette, black
Embellishments: pearls (Creative Charms) Ribbon (American Crafts)
Tools: Corner rounder (EK Success); Floral vines Stencil from The Crafters Workshop (TCW82)
Martha Steward border punch (I did two layers)

Our Bible Study in the Gospel of John is now in the 6th chapter and moving right along. I would love for you to check it out. And if you do, be sure and pray for me as I teach the weekly study.

It looks to be a busy day and this Sunday is Resurrection Sunday (the pastor's wife's work is never done!!!) and we start Friday with dear hubby's birthday so I'm looking at a very full weekend. Have a fantastic day!

God bless!

PS Blogger has been acting strangely and for some reason I lost my siggy and had to resort to my backup. I'm sure next post everything will be back to normal (I hope!)
