A Much Appreciated Thank You!

Yay! It's the weekend! Oh wait a minute, I have to work today! That's okay, it should be a fun (and busy) day at work, we are having a crop going on to benefit the Boys and Girls Club (all the crop fees and 10% of all the purchases today will benefit the local club!)  If you are in the Eureka, CA. area be sure and stop by Scrapper's Edge and support the Boys and Girls Club!
Before heading to work I want to share a very special thank you card I made for some friends of ours that did something very sweet for us.  They made reservations for us to stay at a very nice place (The Palomar Hotel for 2 nights!) so that we could celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in style!!  Isn't that so cool!!  So we will be heading to San Francisco in the near future to take in a Giants game and enjoy a bit of pampering!  I can hardly wait, I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!!

This card also qualifies for three challenges:
Taylored Expressions Sketch #144
Christian Paper Crafts Bible Verse Thursday (Thankful) #120
The Shabby Tea Room challenge #75 Polkadots

The main ingredients for this card come from the July Key Ingredient Kit from Taylored Expressions (designer paper, card stock, ribbon and chipboard fence).  The Stamp set is actually two different sets from T.E. Garden Party Blooms and the sentiment: Much Appreciated) Ink: Memento Tuxedo black;  I've colored the bloom with my Copic Markers: R21, R22, R32 then sponged the edges with Distress Inks: Worn Lipstick and very lightly with Vintage Photo.  Liquid Pearls (Ranger) White Opal were used for the center of the flower.  The stem and petals were colored with Copics: YG11, YG23,YG45, YG93,YG99 and E79.  The border punch is EK Success Scallop Diamond.

The Scripture is a Verve Stamp (Psalm 37:4)
The recipients of this card will completely understand the verse I've chose!
Close up to see the chip board fence that I painted with Adirondack (Lights) Dabbers, Juniper, and then added Old Papers Crackle Paint - you'll need to enlarge the photo to see that effect and I also sanded the edges of the fence to give it a shabby, peeled look.  The shimmery bow (from the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient July kit is a fun chic accent!)

Enjoy your Saturday and hope you have a blessed weekend!
Thanks for visiting and I look forward to your comments!!
God bless!

The Word Lights our Way! BVT113

Busy, busy, so busy I almost forgot to post!!  I finished this card last night for our BIBLE VERSE THURSDAY challenge at Christian Paper Crafts!!  Abby had a wonderful challenge for us using LIGHT FOR OUR PATH as our theme from Psalms 119:105.  She used a lighthouse on her sample which was perfect for this but since I don't have a lighthouse stamp I had to use my lamp stamp from Unity!  I did the Bible verse on the computer and used the font called Berkely.  Very simple design and was quick and easy!  I added a little bit of bling with the dimensional pearls as an accent.

Ingredients: Stamps, Unity Stamp Co., (Shine On set) Designer Paper: Basic Grey (Sweet Threads); Card Stock, Bazzill; Ink, Memento, rich cocoa; EK Success, scallop border punch and Adirondack Dimensional Pearls, Red Pepper.  I've paper pieced the lamp shade.  Finished card A2.

Thanks so much for looking and may God's Word direct your path and may His love shine from your heart today.  Thanks for looking and God bless.

Thinking of You ( 3 challenges)

Welcome delightful friends and family! It is officially the weekend (well almost, it's not quite 5p.m.)! Hope you have some fun plans, I have to work on Saturday and it's my dh's birthday (boo-hoo!) but I'll get off an hour early and I hope to pick something up for him then. I need to get him a new electric razor. He's on aspirin therapy and agressive meds to keep his blood thin, so those stents they just put in will stay open and heal! So, no more sharp blades on his face and neck or he'll never stop bleeding!!

Today's card is a little bit of a stretch for me. I do not usually do the vintage/shabby chic (as much as I love the style, it's out of my comfort zone!) But this Bo Bunny paper (Gabrielle Collection) did most of the work for me (whew!). I added the flowers (Glimmer Misted them with Marshmallow) and layered them, with a little tail of silver ribbon from American Crafts; I love this "Elegant Swirls die" (Sizzix - Tim Holtz Alterations), and it's hard to tell in the photo, but I applied Ranger Stickles (Gunmetal) and after that dried, I added Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Marshmallow) to the kraft card stock (all card stock is Bazzill), if you are interested in seeing the shimmer, you'll have to click to enlarge. I also used just a little bit of Ranger Perfect Pearls (pearl) to the butterflies wings (just a dusting) and Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions) to the butterfly bodies as well as the around the Swirl. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions (Care & Comfort set) and the ink is Palette black, also used around the sentiment. The other bling comes from my stash (brad and adhesive rhinestones) The finished card is A2.

This card qualifies for 3 challenges:

Christian Paper Crafts - Bible Verse Thursday (something from the heart) verse inside is Psalm 37:4 which happens to be my siggie verse! (Verve - Plain Jane)

Play Date Cafe color challenge #75 (see colors below)

And a new challenge blog and my first time playing:

The Kraft Journal - Challenge #12 use flowers and kraft paper on your creation or something from their store Kraft Outlet.

Thanks for visiting and I love reading your delightful comments!!

An Irish Prayer and so much more...

Happy Thursday and a delightful St. Patrick's Day to you all!

Thought for the Day:
There are only three kinds of Irish men who can't understand women— young men, old men, and men of middle age. (Now that's a bit of truth if I ev'r heard one!)

I know it's hard to believe it, two days in a row to share a card!! I have another milestone to share with you all from Christian Paper Crafts, we are having our 100 Color challenge this week and it's a testament to all of our designers as well as our community that we've all supported each other long enough to get here! And since we are celebrating, we're going to give away a little something special to one lucky participant for this challenge. You have until next Sunday night, March 20th, at 6:00 PM EST to upload a card or add your direct link here. There will be a random winner chosen, who will receive something special from us at Christian Paper Crafts ! In two more weeks we will be celebrating the 100th Bible Verse Thursday challenge so be sure to stay tuned to see what Angie will have for us over at the Creative Blog.

This is our inspiration piece from Mary so have fun chosing your colors from this picture and don't forget to head over to the Creative Blog and upload your picture!

Here is my card and 3 challenges! Of course it's the color challenge but I've also included this weeks Bible Verse Thursday#98 (Heaven & Earth verse) and Gloria's sketch #99 (which I missed last week due to other committments!)

CPC CM100; CPC BVT98; CPC ST99

I love layering can you tell?

Here are the ingredients:

Stamp: Our Daily Bread Designs; Ink: Memento, rich cocoa; Designer Paper: DCWV - Mediteranean Cafe (love this paper pack!); Card Stock: Bazzill (base); DCWV Pastel Stack (yellow); Flowers, Making Memories; Buttons, Foof a la Bag 0 buttons; Martha Stewart, border punch; Spellbinders Nestabilites Deckled rectangle; Cuttlebug; Orange Ribbon, American Crafts; Cream ribbon, Buy-the-Spool (I think I got it at Michaels)

An Irish Prayer
May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends, A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

My corn beef and cabbage are in the crockpot and my darlin' Irish hubby will be a very happy man when dinner is served!

Have a blessed day in the Lord!!

Bible Verse Thursday - Gotta Storm in Your Life?

Happy Thursday (and it's almost the weekend!) to you my delightful friends and family!!

Do you know anyone going through one of those "storms of life" okay maybe I should rephrase that. Do you know anyone who is NOT going through a storm? That's better. I think just about everyone we know can relate. We certainly are not exempt from life's trial and tribulations. I know I certainly don't like going through them, but when we look back, if we are "staying the course" and keeping our spiritual eyes focused on the Lord, we should be able to see ourselves mature in our Christian walk and our faith in Christ grow. If not, then we may have to take the test again.... no thank you! But there is always encouragement in the Word of God, especially in the Book of Psalms. Who better than the psalmist, who certainly had a storm or two or three...or maybe too many to count (!) to share such a wonderful verse which I'm sharing in this card? I hope it helps you to stay focused on our Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ. He certainly is where I get my strength and comfort from!

CPC BVT#94 and CPC CM#96

It is Bible Verse Thursday over at Christian Paper Crafts so be sure and check out the Creative Blog HERE. Angie has another gorgeous card to share with us this week and unbeknowst to me, we used the same verse and the same Color Challenge (CPC CM96) from Mary! Well, the ladies over there said that "great minds think alike" (tee-hee!) when they saw the cards!

The stamp is from OUR DAILY BREAD DESIGNS, they are a Partner Company at Christian Paper Crafts.

Here are the ingredients:
Stamps: ODBD, Scripture collection 4
Paper: Bazzill card stock, Neenah natural cardstock
Ink: Memento, rich cocoa
Embellies: Hemp Cording, Darice; Buttons, my stash probably BoBunny (3 smaller buttons)
Tools: Fiskars Upper Crest border punch; Spellbinders, Nestie - Deckled Rectangle; Cuttlebug, EF, Divine Swirls.

Thanks for looking and I pray your day and days to come will be "storm" free.
God bless and thanks for leaving a delightful comment!

Play Date Cafe and Bible Verse Thursday

Hello Delightful Friends and Family!

Still trying to get back into the swing of things and it's as if my creative juices have dried up like the creek bed here in town!! My goodness I take off for a week and it's as if my whole crafting rhythm is out of kilter. Well, I will press on and hopefully I'll be reunited with it soon! Ok, I sound like a drama queen, this is not the end of the world for cryin' out loud!

I have two challenges in todays card. The first one is from CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS and Angella's inspirational BIBLE VERSE THURSDAY!! Angie's challenge was to make a card or project with "Thinking of You" being the key idea. But you need to use a Scripture of encouragment on your project. Can you think of another Scripture of encouragement, there are so many!! But I love this one from Romans 8:31! "If God is for us, who can be against us." Wow!! Powerful verse, even more powerful chapter so I ENCOURAGE you to go read the whole chapter of Romans 8!! I've used the verse on the front of the card and the sentiment on the inside says "Thinking of You"

The second challenge is a color challenge from PLAY DATE CAFE CHALLENGE BLOG. They have some of the coolest color challenges, I wasn't able to play last week (doggone it!) but this week I'm back! This week the colors are bold and bright jeweled tones and are inspired by the Guest Designer Sankari Wegman her work is beautiful, I first saw her work at Taylored Expressons and was blown away by her bold and beautiful projects, so be sure and check out her blog!

CPC-BVT70 PDCC#45

inside of card

I want to share a little about the finishing work on the card because it's not that noticable but something was just missing (little bit of dimension and interest!) so I've added white dots with Smooch (pearlized accent ink - Moonlit) along the border punch (Fiskars). In hindsight, I would probably just add a straight line rather than try to outline the border. The darker colored border has been accented with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Bordeaux, I also "glammed" the butterflies, then added pearls from KaiserCraft.

Other ingredients:
Paper: Basic Grey (Green at Heart), Bazzill, cardstock; Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs and Inkadinkadoo (inside); Ink: Archival (coffee) and Antique Linen Distress ink for blending the edges; Marvy Uchida, butterfly punch; Spellbinders Nestabilities, Label 9, Cuttlebug

Thanks so much for looking, I'm heading over to the church to prepare for the Gospel of John Bible Study that I share at Christian Paper Crafts. I can hardly believe it's been a year that I've been teaching this!! What a fast year it's been. Hope you'll take a minute to encourage me with a delightful comment. Have a fantastic day! Thanks again for visiting.

Lovely October Afternoon....wait a minute!

Okay, it's not really an October afternoon (I'm not losing it!) but the paper I used for my card is October Afternoon's Flying a Kite! Cute papers!! All in my kit from Taylored Expressions. Love it, love it!! Now in reality, it is a beautiful July afternoon, the sun is shining and I've been in all day! (so maybe I am losing it a bit {tee-hee}) Still have more work to finish before I can enjoy this lovely day, though. But since I'm taking a break from my work, I thought I'd upload this card I did for our Bible Verse Thursday last night (yeah, I know... it's Saturday!) but there are no challenge police at Christian Paper Crafts, so there!!! :-) It's all for fun and an opportunity to shine for the Lord with our paper crafts. Here is my card, and the challenge was to either have an image with a home or a verse with home our house in it. Well, I did both thanks to my Ippity Devoted set from Unity Stamp Co.

(CPC-BVT#63) I've done a Z-Fold card!! Fun and easy peasy!

(front of the card looks a little crooked, I think the rick-rac tilted it a bit)

Just another view... you can tell I'm not anxious to get back to the workload....

Here are the deets and then I seriously must get back to work:

Most of the ingredients are from the June Key Ingredient kit from Taylored Expressions. Here is what is not from that kit: Copics: R20, RV17, BG45, Y08, YG11,E33, E19, E37; Ink: Memento, rich cocoa, Distress Ink, Frayed burlap (for edges) Paper: Neenah white cardstock; Tools: Marvy Uchida, scallop oval punch; EK Success, photo corners; Nestablilities Label 1; Zig pen, chocolate for faux stitching.

Thanks for your delightful comments!! I love reading them. Well, it's time to get my nose back to the old grindstone! Actually, it's the computer over at the church, I've got to type up the bulletin and pick out the songs for the services (I wear many hats!) and then get the song list and Scriptures loaded into the MediaShout, then finish my Sunday School lesson, it's all good stuff!! Blessings!!

Happy Thursday!!

Wow the work week is almost over! It's been a fast one hasn't it? Today almost got by before posting our Bible Verse Thursday. Angella has a beautiful card and a great theme and her verse is perfect for inspiration. Here is Angie's own words for this challenge:
"Happy Thursday!! This week's theme for Bible Verse Thursday is "He Is Our Protector". There are many verses which tell us not to fear, that the Lord's "got our back", if you will. Be as flexible on this theme as you wish.....let the Lord lead you as you create! There are no time limits....you can always come back later if you can't do it now! When uploading to our gallery here at CPC, please use the Keyword BVT42.....if uploading to any additional on-line galleries, please use the Keyword CPC-BVT42. To view my sample in the gallery, click HERE.To view all of the projects for this challenge, click HERE."
Be sure and check out the inspiration at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS and I hope to have a card to share by tomorrow! Have a wonderful day to all you challenge lovers!!

Bible Verse Thursday... is it already THURSDAY?

(DON'T FORGET THE BLOG HOP TOMORROW AT 8:00a.m. featuring GINA K DESIGNS our January sponsor)

Can you believe how fast this week is going by! I hope you all are warm and comfy, there have been some awfully cold weather reported out there. I'm feeling a little guilty sitting here and I see the temp outside is a comfortable 54 degrees, now compare that to Red Cloud, NE that is experiencing 29 below! ( I just had a phone call from our evangelist buddy from NE) See why I say comfortable!

Here is this weeks theme at Christian Paper Crafts! The theme is "Our God is Sovereign."

This is what Angella wrote:

When I first read this verse from Ephesians (her card's verse is Ephesians 4:5-6), I was reminded that so many of us live such hectic lives that we forget that our God is still in control, and that He is not just in the background where we have placed Him for the time being. He created the heavens, the earth, and every single little thing or thought we know! Some of us get "stressed out" at the drop of the hat, instead of letting God walk along with us and allowing Him to be our leaning post. We let fear control us instead of trusting in Him for solutions to our problems. We fear other people, we fear for our well-being, we fear illness, we fear God's enemies, and the list goes on. Here is my point.....God commands us not to fear anything.....if you have fear, then you can't have total faith in Him as He commands us to do. All things....ALL things come from Him and He is still in control of this world."That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me, I am the Lord, and there is none else.I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." Isaiah 45:6-7So....no matter what.....God has created all. When you think you're alone in the dark, remember that God is there as well! When there is some kind of conflict in your life, remember that God is there, like a parent training his child.....pay attention to the lessons He gives and be grateful for the wisdom gained!

So, for your project, use any verse or theme which speaks of how mighty our Lord is. When uploading to our gallery at Christian Paper Crafts, use Keyword: BVT36. If posting to any additional on-line galleries, please use Keyword: CPC-BVT36.

I hope to be back a little later with a card and a layout!!!

I'll start with Angella who shares this about the Bible Verse Thursday challenge: "This week's challenge is to use a verse about the coming of our Savior. Who is busy this week?!)Please use Keyword BVT35 when uploading to our gallery. If uploading to any additional galleries, please use the Keyword CPC-BVT35. Have fun!! God Bless!"

Bible Verse Thursday and Taylored Expressions Sketch

Morning! Just a quick post I've got some training for the church website this morning then off to Costco to purchase all the food for the Thanksgiving Community Dinner tomorrow(we feed about 200), then pick up the sample of the new church T-shirt for a youth fundraiser, then finish up the shoeboxes for the Samaritan Purse outreach and get them delivered. (whew!!) It is a busy day and tonight we have our mid-week Bible Study!

But first It's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS and Angella has a great challenge for you here is what she says:
"Happy Thursday, everyone!!! Only one more week until Thanksgiving!!! Since we will not be having a challenge on Thanksgiving, I thought we could incorporate the same gratitude spirit this week instead. For this week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge, use ANY verse which speaks of gratitude or thankfulness. Other than the gratitude theme, this challenge is completely open.....any colors or images.....let's see how creative you can be!!! Of course, if you'd like to make a Thanksgiving card, by all means....do!!Please use Keyword BVT32 when uploading to our gallery....come back to this thread and post a link when you have a sec. If uploading to any additional on-line galleries, please use the Keyword CPC-BVT32. There are no time limits and no challenge police! Just have fun and let our Lord be glorified!!! Have a blessed day!! "
Here is my sample for the challenge which incorporated my take on last Fridays sketch from Taylored Expressions (TESC91):

There are no time limits and no challenge police so we would LOVE for you to participate!!! Well, I for one am happy there are no challenge police on this one because I read that it was a "music challenge" and I stopped right there!! Here is my almost following the challenge card recipe for this week! And BTW I was a little out of my comfort zone on this one!! Rejoice card! (CPC-BVT30)

CPC-BVT30

Here is my fast and easy, clean and simple, less is more, REJOICE card!! This is my little mini 3" x 4" card that was mainly made from leftovers. I almost feel like I'm cheating, it was so easy. It probably took me longer to photograph it than to make it! So, I'm rejoicing!! Seriously, I have so much to be thankful for and that does make me rejoice. God has been and is so very good to me and that was the inspiration for my card.

Here is my recipe:
Paper: K & Company (pattern paper from last years Christmas Cheer line, the card base is Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses, and the green cardstock is Bazzill.
Stamp: Rejoice (Good Stamps) this is an old, old, old stamp of mine.
Ink: Stazon, Jet Black
Ribbon: from my stash
Tools: Scallop oval punch from Marvy Uchida

Here is the rest of the Scripture that I had shared earlier in the day:
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Philippians 4:4

REJOICE!

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say rejoice!! (Phil 4:4) Welcome to Delightful Details!! Can you tell what the challenge is for our Bible Verse Thursday at Christian Paper Crafts? Ok, three guesses and the first two don't count! Alright I know you all are pretty smart cookies but I'm going to let Angella our BVT challenge Hostess tell you in her own words:

"This week's Bible Verse Thursday Challenge is to use a verse with "Rejoice" or about rejoicing. Share with us the things in your life which cause rejoicing in you, either on a scrapbook page, or in the description of your card or altered item. I can't wait to be inspired by your creations and words about rejoicing!!When uploading your project in our gallery, use the Keyword BVT30.....if uploading to an additional gallery, please use Keyword CPC-BVT30. Friday, October 9, 2009

This has been one of those weeks, but I'm determined with the Lord's help and a lot of prayer warriors to get done what needs to get done!! I had to put the call out at church that I was feeling the pressure and starting to stress out because our ladies retreat is just around the corner and I've only got my outline for the session I'm teaching done, the craft sample hasn't even gotten started although I have the materials, the name tags aren't done yet and I have the grandbabies an extra day this week as well as having to work tomorrow (Sat). Plus I need to finish the John Bible Study (I'm enjoying that so much) as soon as the kiddoes go home later this afternoon. That usually is about a 6-8+ hour committment of time. I started it last night after our Thursday Bible Study for a couple of hours. So if you are reading this please keep me in your prayers. I REALLY need them! It's not always like this but occasionally I get a week or two in a row that is extremely overwhelming and I'm in one right now! Ok that's all I'm saying about that!

BIBLE VERSE THURSDAY and FUN ON FRIDAY are the challenges that are ready for you to tackle (it's football season... ya know!) at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS Hopefully you can combine a couple of the challenges and have fun creating a unique card, altered item or possibly a scrapbook page. We missed posting SKETCH TUESDAY, but Alisa had some pressing family situations. Please keep her dad and the whole family in prayer, he's been battling cancer since the first of the year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alisa and her family....

BIBLE VERSE THURSDAY: Since ANGELLA'S been doing a lot of reflecting lately about where she's been and where the Lord is leading her, she would like to challenge us to do a project that is about reflections. For your project, you can interpret "reflection" in any way you like......make a scene with a reflection and add a verse, use a photo with a reflection, or choose any scripture which causes reflection within you. You may twist this any way you like....be as creative as you wish....and have fun!!
When uploading your project in our gallery, use the Keyword BVT26. If uploading to additional on-line galleries, please use the Keyword CPC-BVT26.

FUN ON FRIDAY: Today's challenge is to use an animal on your card.
When uploading your project in our gallery, use the Keyword FOF25. If uploading to additional on-line galleries, please use the Keyword CPC-FOF25.

Happy World Card Making Day! And BVT & FOF challenges

Welcome to my crazy weekend and.... Happy World Card Making Day!
Since I do make cards I thought I'd best share one today since it is afterall, "World Card Making Day" so in honor of that here is my card!

CPC-CM24 and CPC-ST25

It is actually a card from two challenges that were made this week at CHRISTIAN PAPER CRAFTS From Color Monday and Sketch Tuesday! (and it's so much cuter in person!)

Little detail work: corner gradient snowflakes are stickers from Stampendous! I used two circle punches from EK Success punched out the paper and popped them up with a 3M product and added the silver Stickles to the center of the snowflakes.

Silver glitter dots are Stickles from Ranger. The paper already was glitzed up so I just added the Stickles to the white paper and the snowflakes. I popped up the little gingerbread man and the star, I did cut out the tree, but forgot to pop it up and already had it adhered, bummer. Oh well.

SU! stamp is from 1997!!! I guess it's retired (lol)

The pattern paper: American Crafts (Merrymint line - so cute! and double-sided) The pretty white background paper is from a wedding line and I'm not sure if it's Bazzill or not (oops! I'll try and find out). The ribbon is from American Crafts. I used Jet Black Stazon ink.

I had such an overwhelming week especially Thursday and Friday I totally spaced posting our Bible Verse Thursday challenge and Fun on Friday challenge (forgive me girls!)

Bible Verse Thursday Challenge: use your favorite verse pertaining to everlasting or eternal life. When uploading to Christian Paper Crafts gallery, use Keyword BVT25.
